I saw that LKD was off the podcast this past week so I gave it a listen (that voice is unbearable). Sterling notes that the youtube metrics for his latest videos have been in the toilet. One might wonder if he will stop doing the same video again and again (with slightly different beats) if it continues. Then again, he has his patreon...

...although it's been on a slight (but noticible) decline for months.

Maybe he should try to get sued again.
That Patreon graph actually seems to represent that he's doing fine. Even when he's losing viewers and patrons, the paypigs stay with him. He's probably just losing $1/month donations without losing any of the $50/month donations. It's not like Youtube revenue is worth anything. The Social Justice market still seems to be growing, and even when it inevitably shrinks people like him are gonna be grandfathered in for decades. I think this indicates that he can actually continue posting the same stupid shit over and over, and it's a financially sound decision.

On today's episode of The Jimquisition, Jim Sterling talks about how the internet was too hard on the Ooblets developers. So he pulled his video on Ooblets because he claims to want no association with "bad actors". Once again, Jim pretends to be shocked, ~shocked~, that the internet has people that might *gasp* not take kindly to someone in a position of power insulting their audience. Keep pretending like you don't already know that internet hatred is a force of nature, Jim. Activision knows every idiot's dollar is just as valuable as the next guy's, and you know every idiot's view is just as valuable as the next guy's.

Jim went on to say Epic walked away from it with good PR. Um... no? Maybe in Jim's circles, but I'm pretty sure most people still don't give a shit, because a few disposable articles from Kotaku or whomever don't matter as much to the layman as, oh, I don't know, a shopping cart?

To Jim's credit, he did go on to talk about how Epic has a problem with scooping up exclusives but not allowing sales on both Epic and Steam at the same time, citing a few games I've never heard of that turned down their deal because they had already promised Steam keys on Kickstarter. And mentions how a smattering of big-name AAA titles getting to be on both, because they can't be pushed around as easily as smaller studios.

(That SkateBird game looks pretty cool, and it deserves way more publicity than fucking Ooblets, which, all drama aside, looks like a soulless turd.)

And then he 9/11s his own point by parlaying straight into whining about capitalis- I mean, Ca-triple-appital-ism. I'm sure that if socialism ever took over in America, the leaders would totally pull Jim and all of his great friends under their wing to live in the lap of luxury, where they can continue to write about how mad video games make them for the same living wage as the many farmers, doctors, and technicians that keep the country running smoothly. Did you know that every Jimquistion video is just as nourishing as four eggs? Suck it, farmers, maybe you should do something more productive. Like getting mad at video games online.

And then during his outro, he mentions how important competition is, which is exactly why capitalism works well enough IRL.

Jim also wears lobster claws during his live-action segments, which completely hijacked the comments. Bravo, Jim. you know how to control your audience.

I've never seen a fat man do so many gymnastics in my life. Well, mental gymnastics, but if they were physical, Jim would be a gigachad by now.

Jesus, Jim Sterling, a blast from the past. I remember doing an exposé on this guy, particularly one of my points was that the guy didn't get satire unless it's politically alligned with him, like when he had to see the trailer for the "Kill the Faggot" game and complained about "muh homophobia".

Nowadays, the "muh lootboxes" and "muh capitalism" points were even getting very repetitive way back and even funnier thing is that when someone points that out to him he will go "IF I DON'T KEEP TALKING ABOUT LOOTBOXES NO ONE WILL CARE ABOUT LOOTBOXES".

What a hamplanet.

Jim acts like everyone cares about this shit because of him, in reality he's just some niche YouTube guy. Look at his most popular uploads, he only has eight videos with more than one million views, granted he might have more on the Escapist, but still he's not some hotshot YouTuber in terms of viewership and subscribers. Also how many articles and videos do we see each time that the likes of EA or Activision pull some sort of bullshit? Every major gaming website will cover it, the usual suspects on YouTube will cover it, whatever community it's affect will also make a bunch of videos covering it and complain about it on social media. With the solo exception of the Digital Homicide fiasco Jim has never been at the forefront of something that isn't a all you can eat buffet, at the very best he's one of a million voices that causes change, that's all.

Are we even sure Sterling even has a wife? He looks so much like her that could just be Sterling in a dress and wig. Like they're both a joke from Cromartie High School. Plus, we never ever see them together in one photo.
I’ve always just assumed inbreeding.

Today's episode is entitled "The Political Agenda of Dark Souls".

Don't like Dark Souls, don't like Jim's wacky politics, I think I'll sit this one out. Who else wants to watch through it and laugh at whatever dumb things Jim said this week?
I bit the bullet so you can avoid some of the particularly grating Autism he shoved into this one, but holy shit, this one.

It starts slightly less stupid as you are probably thinking it is. Rest assured, it doesn't stay there.

Basically, he spends the entire video pushing the "EVERYTHING IN VIDYA IS POLITICAL" angle. For most of it, he plays obese discount VaatiVidya, covering various things about Souls lore and the story of the setting, before dragging the whole thing around and declaring that Dark Souls is some giant commentary on the state of world politics (going so far as to state that the fact that the Lords attempted to prolong the age of fire is tied to climate change, calling Seath a Boomer, and comparing Gwyndolin's subversion to fucking Brexit support campaigns).

He then proceeds to go full fucking nutter around 13:05, arguing that progress can't be stopped and basically that anyone who clings to things like religious texts or indeed, the constitution, is by their very nature being obsolete for referencing ancient documentation made hundreds of years ago. He takes shots at pretty much every group he doesn't like in this video, before saying he doesn't really mean any of it, then follows this up by putting forth his attitude of "fuck the elite," which is fucking hilarious coming from someone like Jimmy boy.

It's not quite Extra Credits/Nazism stupid, but it's definitely within striking distance. Sadly, Jim's audience will continue to fellate his every word and learn nothing, so really, nothing of value was won or lost.

Yeah, a quick scroll through the comments tipped me off that this one would be extra cancerous, with some of the comments talking about how they just can't believe how some people just don't want to hear about politics, with one commenter saying some people treat the entire subject like Voldemort. You know that whole concept how if everyone is an asshole except for you, then you're the asshole? That applies to Jim's core fans - they really don't seem to understand what they're doing wrong when they launch into a rant about how bad Orange Man is, only to be told "Sir, this is a McDonald's", by the McDonald's cashier they're ranting to.

Confirmation bias is everywhere, and it's easy to map whatever rétarded politics you follow to whatever game you're playing. Pokemon is a liberal's paradise because the kids are free to roam the nation without having to worry about school, they just live off the land and collect Pokemon and deal with Team Rocket naturally! Pokemon is a socalist's paradise because all medical care is completely free and everyone works together in a world where all races and species live in harmony! Pokemon is a capitalist's paradise because your skill as a trainer will determine exactly how many Pokébucks you can make, with the best trainers becoming the wealthiest. Pokemon is anarchy because it's 10-year-old children roaming an entire country by themselves! Pick apart your favorite game and discard whatever doesn't fall in line with whatever message you want to shove down everyone's throats, because after all, dog whistles are everywhere, and you, the person reading this on your phone while taking a shit, are the only one clever enough to find it.

Thanks for that timestamp, that's a terrific example of how arrogant and preachy Jim can be. it probably doesn't need to be said, but attacking religious texts isn't that great of an idea, because his alternatives aren't exactly appealing. He & co. can't even remember how less than a decade ago, the word "faggot" was flung around everywhere as a way to call someone a wimp, with the concept of homophobia long-since being forgotten, as our culture did shift into being much more accepting of homosexuality. Now please go on to tell me all about how I've committed original sin by being a straight white cis male, and the road to redemption is lined with soylent and estrogen. Nah, I think I'll stick with the Bible. Hell, Jim, it helped produce one of your favorite games, The Binding of Isaac. And don't tell me your black ass wouldn't throw a fit about a game where a baby escapes his obese, purple-haired mother who wants to kill him for being born a white male with no signs of wanting to be trans, just to run through various dungeons and eventually fight Milo Yiannopolous, and eventually Mega Milo.

Oh, and the constitution also has some pretty damn progressive amendments. But, you know, if Jim's all about throwing the baby out with the bathwater, then I'm not gonna let him know how bad repealing the 13th, 19th, and 21st amendments could be. Slavery's back, women can't vote, and alcohol is banned, baby. Also, throw out the 22nd amendment, too, and let Trump reign permanently.

Actually, I think you could shit on Jim with every amendment to the constitution. Axe the 4th and raid his drug stash, axe the 3rd and force him to share his home with military personnel, axe the 1st and the 8th and lock him up for saying controversial shit on YouTube with a billion dollar bail.
Even the earliest sections of the constitution, the Bill of Rights in general is pretty progressive, if you know your history.

The right to free expression, religion and the legal neutrality towards religion has never been enshrined in law like it has in the US, Nor the right to own and bear arms, which traditionally is the privilege of the military, Gendarmes and other servants of the state; or (in countries like Venezuela, even) Party Loyalists. Historically, if you objected to soldiers being billeted on your property, tough shit, they have weapons and you don't.

Nor is the right to not be subject to random searches without basis been respected (albeit that right alone has been eroded over the years, someone should do something about that). The right to a fair trial and not incriminate yourself is massive, which allows unscrupulous prosecutors and judges to basically railroad laymen who don't know any better to guilt.

Beyond the bill of rights is the right to a speedy trial (In his home country, you can wait months or even years to get your day in court), to a fair trial by jury (Juries arguably are one of the best protections of an accused's civil rights, history of jury nullification comes to mind), and the right to counsel. There's no shortage of things in the US constitution that historically and even today, you don't get in most countries.

I think Jim is just doing a performative woke routine. Sounds like his wife and her friends were speaking, rather than him.

Jim is a fat fucking idiot telling his moronic worshippers we should rip the foundation out of what society is built on because it's obsolete and nothing bad will happen because somehow, if we let ignorant degenerate cucks like Jim and his hambeast whore decide how to do everything, this will end up great.
