You know, given how much he likes to speak out on developer crunch and the like, I'm surprised that he hasn't done a video or even acknowledgement of the Naughty Dog reports coming out that their crunch culture is among the worst.

Is he not aware of this issue, or is he in fact aware, but doesn't want to criticize a this particular studio?

I think he will probably talk about, keep in mind Jim's always a week or two behind the times and he's talked plenty of shit about Sony.

Hell talk about it anywhere between 2 weeks to a month from now and spend one minute talking about the devs then 20-30 minutes about how

Jim, every single person on both sides who's not a sociopath to some degree, agrees that the healthcare system in America is screwed up, but there's a lot more that can be said about it rather than just "Capitalism bad", or "Orange man bad", for that matter.
If only he didn't leave a country with nationalized health because... Why did Jim move to the US anyway? All he seems to do in complain about it.

But Naughty Dog are the toast of the woke crowd right now due to The Last of Us 2 and Uncharted 4. It will be interesting to see if he treats them with kid gloves.

That's a good question. Let alone to Mississippi, of all places.

I've never found out, but I've guessed it had to do with his wife. Jim's talked about having an abusive home life growing up, something about his mother's new husband hitting him, or something? I'm not sure, and it's really hard to say how much of it is true, since we never hear from anyone else involved in his personal life. Even his wife has, AFAIK, never made an appearance on a single Jimquisition, and I don't think I've ever heard him bring her up. In fact, I think the only way I even know he has a wife is from reading Jim's Encyclopedia Dramatica article.

I really cant think of another reason why he'd move to Mississippi, of all places, and stay there long after his Patreon broke 100k/year. Though he did just move to Pittsburgh, PA for his wrestling thing, so... is he still even married? Was he locked down in MS because his wife's family lives there? Who knows, but I sure as shit don't wanna listen to Podquisition or whatever and put up with a thousand "TRANS RIGHTS NOW" screams (what rights exactly? they never say) just to get those details.

Like he moved out of a country that was a part of the EU, surely moving to any other EU nation would have been a hell of a lot easier and cheaper than moving to America and he could take advantage of the universal healthcare there, which I'm sure will be more and more appealing as he ages without losing weight.

I'll just never know quite what to make of Jim. He truly is an enigma. Like every single little detail about him doesn't quite line up when held under scrutiny. He had a spinal injury that put him in excruciating pain for a while but now he's a wrestler? What? He's a hard lefty from England but he moved to the heart of the deep south in America? Why? His wife is a hideous hambeast who fucks whomever she wants, and he never even mentions her at all? Is it one of those marriages just to help Jim get citizenship? Are they even legally married at all? What the hell's going on here?

"The Videogame Retailers That Would Rather Kill Than Die"? Oh fuck off with that clickbait, Jim.

This is an episode where the sixth word in his monologue is "capitalists", so you know this one's gonna be a doozy. The 1:37 timestamp gives us this screencap when Jim starts trailing off about racism:

jimquisition.JPG

What is with the radical left and Harry Potter? Weren't Jim and Justin too old for that series when it was new? Even I thought it was lame when I was really little and smack dab in the middle of the targeted age demographic, and even being a kid who was really into Final Fantasy, you'd think Harry Potter would be totally my thing, but no, even at the time I thought that shit was gay.

And it was, and still is, and the kind of people who still reference it seem to be insufferable le redditors fuck blumpfh types.

And then there's a rant about TRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUMP

come on jim, you're killing me here, I'm not even two minutes in yet, can you please just-

2:00 "You know how I know the concept of meritocracy is bollocks?"

Jim, you make well over $100,000 a year off of Patreon donations because you're good at being a showman. You are literally a made man thanks to meritocracy. I don't make nearly that much, but, I'm a lot thinner, healthier, younger, and more agile than you. Even I would fare better in a socialist state. Most people would, since socialism isn't exactly known for taking care of the morbidly obese.

And then he finally gets to what the video's actually about, Gamestop not closing stores fast enough. Gamestop did shut down stores recently, but they weren't fast enough for ol' Jim. He uses that creepy mouth moving face thing again at 4:54 to mock the Gamestop CEO for... selling Doom Eternal one day early on 3/19, to mitigate the crowd size. That's, uh, not a bad thing, Jim. It's kind of clever, actually.

5:43 "Selling a game a day early is not a safety precaution, it's a bunch of executives working together to profit from a global pandemic that has killed thousands of people. That's what it is. That's all it is."

WOAH THERE, COWBOY

Here's an example of someone working to profit from a global pandemic:

Gamestop sold a video game a day early. They're a video game retailer that sold a video game. Dude, a lot of other stores are open, too. You could pick up Doom Eternal at Walmart the next day (and for $10 cheaper). That's some bad faith arguing right there.

Later on he calls Hobby Lobby "hateful" because they've pissed off the SJW hive before. Hobby Lobby's a lot like Chick-Fil-A, a pretty great store that's Christian-run and really has their shit together, but just the sheer existence of Christianity seems to make tards like Jim perpetually upset, so he can't help but throw fists in the video. Jim probably punched another hole in his wall because the Twitter psychopaths don't have anything nasty to say about Chick-Fil-A this week.

Jim does finally get around to talking about the ridiculous corporate letter Gamestop sent out where they said:
"We have received reports of local authorities visiting stores in an attempt to enforce closure despite our classification. Store Managers are approved to provide the document linked below to law enforcement as needed." (their classification being as an "essential retailer"). Yeah, that's uh, fucking ridiculous. It's absurd to a truly clown world level to command that your hourly employees stand up to the police in the middle of a global pandemic. That's good content for The Jimquisition. That's the first part of this video where you weren't just doing this:
grandpasimpsonyellingatig3.jpg

I'm at the 8 minute mark now, good lord this episode is agonizing

Jim then goes on to tell tales sent to him by random people online about other game stores worldwide not closing down either. Are they true? Who knows! No sources, no crediting, he didn't even mention if they came from Twitter PMs, Reddit, or his email, and provided no screenshots or photographs for proof.

"Verifying sources is for faggots, and a beta move for dickless cowards." -James "Jim Sterling" Stanton, 2020

Later on, he plays parts of that leaked conference call, that's... honestly not really surprising,

16:45 "For the particularly dissolute capitalists out there, Coronavirus has been a blessing in disguise. They may have not even seen it as disguised, considering how blatantly gleeful to profit from it they appear to be."

Oh, like you and that fat fat Patreon, Jim? How your entire kingdom is built on repetitive videos that harp on the happenings of the world and the entire video game industry? Since, you know, you'd be out of a job if the world were perfect. The Jimquisition Industrial Complex, ladies and gentlemen.

17:35 "I'm not saying game retailers are evil-"

You just spent the last 17 and a half minutes convincing your viewers they universally are, but okay

"-landlords who still plan to evict tenants during this outbreak, they're evil."

That's literally illegal right now, as declared by President Trump

"Sheriffs planning to harass and arrest homeless people during this outbreak, they're evil."

...what?

"Graham Linehan, well, he's just a-SKELETON WARRIORS"

...who?

grahamlinehan.JPG

oh

Wait, I know that name.

Graham_Dankula.JPG

Yeah, fuck'im. Wait, what does this have to do with Gamestop?

Anyway, the video's almost over, is Jim gonna say anything else?

Yeah, he talks at the end about having to live in a cramped apartment he wasn't planning on staying in this long and now they're "making do as best they can with not great resources" jim you are making $13,115 a month on Patreon right now. You make $157,380 a year right now. You are making 4.6 times the amount of money the average American made in 2018 from Patreon alone. That doesn't factor in shirt sales or whatever money YouTube kicks your way, or any other income channels I don't know about. Jim's not a 1%er, but he's well into the top 10% of the country. Over 90% of this entire nation makes less money than Jim Sterling. Hell, I certainly do. Does Jim pay his taxes? Has he ever been audited? That'd be interesting.

Thank Trump for me.

The whole outrage at Gamestop is very odd to me.

It's Gamestop. It's not like they're being mega greedy, grasping at every last penny. They, like most corporations, don't have a multiple of their budget locked away somewhere. But they're in a comparatively bad position as is, even then.

Unless you want to see them go under '90's comic store style, I don't see a problem with selling 2 games that will put funds into their own pockets and the pockets of game publishers. Big whoop, they don't want to financially fuck themselves over. And while that is no where near an altruistic motivation, it's motivation enough to sell vidya for an extra day, and it means that their employees get at least another 8-9 hours worth of wages before being put on unpaid leave for the next fuck knows how many weeks, or outright fired.

Also look at the age demographics who will be going to Gamestop. Absolute maximum is going to be parents in their late 40's. Not nearly the main victims of serious symptoms of the virus.

Most of those people will be staying in as it is, and any younger than that is at a an even lower risk of even mild symptoms of the virus. Going to a Gamestop for Doom and Animal Crossing in 2020 (neither of these franchises have people lining up for midnight release ala GTA5 or something) for half an hour is not lethal enough for a video title like that, if even potentially lethal at all.

I'm not going to decry someone for saying "fuck Gamestop" every chance I get, because I really don't give a shit. But this didactic, moralistic narrative that dominates social media and most of YouTube is getting pretty old. Especially coming from pundits who've been doing this shit for 10-15 years.

Sterling is like a more annoying version of Jason Schrier. He's a propagandist for collectivist ideologies, as far as I'm concerned.

Not surprised that Jim is having money problems. Caviar socialists like him often consoom beyond their appropriate means.

Plus, saying this publicly, now out of all times is supposed to act as an empathetic appeal for people who are actually going to get financially hit by this shit, one way or another, and those who want to sperg about it.

That, and it acts as a smokescreen distracting from the fact that he is making a lot of money. Otherwise, you get a lot of even less engaged people turning around and saying "Hold on, you're telling me that the world is too materialistic as you record yourself with a top of the line smartphone from a multi million dollar penthouse?", like they did with that Imagine video from the Hollywood crowd.

As I said, his rhetoric is that of propaganda.

I took it as he was "making do" with recording in a shitty apartment instead of moving into a townhouse/real house like the one he left. He also moved for wrestling, so they had to have paid him something for that.

Anyways, I agree that the Gamestop hate is myopic on this issue. Paid leave during a time of no sales is a pipe-dream in the long run for any company, let alone one that is near bankrupt. Hardly more of a crime than the electronics section of Walmart still being open. And, as I said during the initial rollout of the their infamous memo, the very last sentence say that they will follow all local and state laws, so if the cops really came knocking, any given Gamestop would have shut down.

My one hope is that they wind up on HGTV on one of those House Shopping/Remodeling shows and they're "in character" the entire time to the point where they make the hosts look less gay than they are.

Complaining about his housing is just another sign of how detached this fat fuck is from the rest of the society. Lots of people can't work because their job requires them to be around others. Their concern is that the bills don't stop coming even though the checks have. Jumbo Jim has worked from home for years. His entire business is online. He's mad that he has to stay in a smaller space for a few weeks.

Maybe it wouldn't be so cramped if you and your wife weren't so fat. You'd probably use less toilet paper too.

Yeah, and selling video games is Gamestop's bread and butter. Not just one, but TWO major releases at a time of the year when big releases are otherwise sparse are too big for Gamestop to pass up on. And considering how every single dollar counts for Gamestop, as they're currently knocking on death's door, it's really not much of a problem.

Gamestop certainly has earned their comeuppance, that's for damn sure. Pushing preorders, warranties, and their subscription card, along with employees' entire jobs riding on sales numbers for those, has always been a fucked up practice. Gamestop destroying countless Guitar Hero & Rock Band accessories has single-handedly driven up the prices for those second hand, and Rock Band 4's nearly impossible to get without spending a fortune right now

edit: A NEW XBOX ONE LEGACY ADAPTER FOR ROCK BAND 4 SOLD ON EBAY FOR NEARLY SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS

JUST FOR AN ADAPTER

FUCK

Also, how about all the boxes and bookets they've thrown out? And then I've even got a personal gripe with how they sapped away several thousand of my own Powerup Rewards points because one day they flipped a switch and decided to just start auto-spending them on $5 coupons that'd expire after a month, and I had no idea about it until all my points were long gone, and my coupons expired. I tried complaining about it and just got told by multiple people, in store and on the phone, that there was nothing they could do. So, even as someone who had been relatively lucky with Gamestop, with most (not all) of the employees in my area being really cool, I'm not gonna shed a single tear for them. Don't take away people's points, assholes. You literally sell entertainment that largely could be summed up as "press the buttons and make the number go as high as possible woooooo", so imagine how frustrated your customers feel when you tell them all about how shopping there makes a different number grow and then WHOOPS there goes your big number because fuck you

So I don't give a fuck about Gamestop, they can rot for all I care. I love the idea of a dedicated video game store, but holy fuck were they ever hostile in all the stupidest ways. Hell, I'd be down to see a video on that. Explain all the reasons Gamestop shut down. Not this moral outrage bullshit, since that balloon can be popped by just saying "I can buy a game from Walmart right now, but not Gamestop, and somehow Gamestop is the one "that would rather kill than die".

Not surprised that Jim is having money problems. Caviar socialists like him often consoom beyond their appropriate means.
True. The Lowtax thread right here on KF has showcased how Lowtax constantly complains about not having enough money and begging for donations, but they've also discovered he orders shit like $100 gourmet pies from some fancy website, while still pulling in over $8,000 a month on Patreon for livestreaming, on top of the SA forums still turning a healthy profit. He's not as wealthy as he used to be in the days when he owned a mcmansion (albeit, in Missouri, lol) and a sports car, but he ain't eatin' cheap.

Lord only knows what Jim gorges himself on.

This is a big problem I see, not just with Jim but with anyone that covers the game industry really, they'll make big deals of shit that they wouldn't necessarily complain about elsewhere. As silly as Gamestop's letter was I agree them staying open wasn't a crime, they're already on deaths door, I don't blame them for wanting to do everything possible to make sure they can survive. Hell I was watching Louis Rossmann and he was talking about how vape shops and other shit are still open in New York because they don't know if they're gonna be hit giant rent bills and shit when this is over. I genuinely wonder how Jim would react to small businesses like that, or hell even Rossmann's own repair business being open, However I would bet that the majority of people would be more understanding and wouldn't shit on them in the same way as they would Gamestop.

From what I've seen, Jim tends to just ignore criticism like that. The Jimquisition is basically just a summary of everything Woke Gaming Twitter complained about this week, and since there's never enough to fill 20 minutes, he just parlays into whatever preachy topic gets him the most woke points this week, which is almost always the same few bits of rhetoric he cycles out from week to week. Usually at the 11 minute mark. Jim loves to shift gears at specifically the 11 minute mark. Jim keeps his show firmly segmented and organized. Like a Nazi.

Fatboy Sterling needs to come up with a new gimmick, this endless circular screeching is getting wearisome and it's been how long since he made a Jimquisition episode about a specific game and not the industry at large? I wouldn't mind Jim taking the industry to task if he had had anything new to say about it since, I dunno, like the last three years or so? Every episode is the same shit to the point he could start randomly generating these from an algorithm containing the keywords "AAA", "UBISOFT", "EA", "FUCK" and "SKELETON WARRIORS". I mean he's already seemingly fixated on the creepy clutch cargo moving mouth bullshit so why not just skip the rest of the effort all together?
