I'm not a hardcore Parrothead or anything, haven't listened to all of his songs, haven't seen him live (although I'd like to) and I'm not a big country music guy (although he isn't typical country music)

But I figured ol Jimmy deserved a thread as I've liked what I've heard and I dig his whole vibe and the Margaritaville empire, what's not appealing about the whole island lifestyle fantasy?

I certainly dig it, I had the pleasure of eating at the Margaritaville restaurant in Orlando once, but I've also been to the Florida keys and have had enough experience with the ocean to know the vibe Buffet captures with his music firsthand.

While arguably he's a little too commercialized, with everything from his own brand of beer to BBQ sauce, don't let that dissuade you from actually checking out his music itself.

He is famous for songs like why don't we get drunk and screw and Margarhitaville, but there are a huge list of underrated songs that all have the common thread of finding that one place you feel at peace. It is Naive to think such a place exists but it is still a hell of a dream to have.

My favorite underrated song of his is Biloxi.

If you like Jimmy Buffet, there is a singer by the name of Jim Morris who has a similar sound. He was a very talented artist, unfortunately not a lot of people have heard of him. Sadly he passed away in 2016.

There are some other musicians like this who have a similar sound to Buffet (many people usually refer to this type of music as "trop rock").

I forgot to mention that my introduction to Jimmy Buffet funnily enough was the parody of him, Coconut Pete, played by Bill Paxton in the movie Club Dread.

Buffet himself was so flattered by the parody that he actually sang some of Coconut Pete's songs at his concerts.
