Mods have made the reasonable request that the parade in the Nick Bates thread not be rained on. I agree - his victims can breath a sigh of relief that he will no longer be a threat.
But this isn't about Nick. This is about Anna, or @Ancani. Anna has been a forum regular for a while now commenting on both Tumblr and her history with Nick. She has had a relationship with Nick since 2006 when she was 13, roleplaying with him online and sending letters to one another. In 2008 she realized Nick wasn't entirely sane, though it took her another year to consider cutting off contact with him.
By 2013 her relationship with Nick had begun to get retconned. No one can fault a young girl for making a bad decision. One can, however, fault that girl for the actions they took after it. Anna has frequently claimed she is being stalked and harassed by a man so enfeebled by his mental illnesses he would not leave his house for weeks at a time. She was in fear for her life from a man that only had internet access for a few hours a month, and even though he had panic attacks riding the bus there was still fear from 3600 miles away.
Even as she wished to stay safe and be left alone, she continued to talk about Nick - as recently as 2015 here and on Tumblr. She had every opportunity to be proactive by changing screen names and setting her accounts to friends only - measures that were never taken despite wondering in Nick's thread about the likelihood of a protective order she never applied for.
Lest you wonder where the funny is, Anna is triggered by a great number of things - such as men who can never find her and Homestuck (which should trigger everyone by being an unfunny mess).
There are over 2500 pages on her current tumblr which I'll even admit is a pretty good deterrent for discovery. Pan for gold among the dirt my friends.
