Not sure what the hell happened but from what I gather, a tranny webcomic author is burning all of his books he's supposed to be sending to backers or something. Story is still developing.

Same. After awhile they got a tad too odd for me however and I quit following.

What I basically got from the author is: "I do not understand how to successfully run my own business and got so fed up that I am taking my ball and going home. Because of my philosophy, there should be a group of people paying for my necessities as I do no action like other privileged human beings. I've been screwed over so shall you. I don't care about money, I think it is a joke, but I actually do care. This is my way of changing the ideals of society in a completely selfish way. Also I don't know how to properly write my thoughts without jumping all over the place."

Part of me sympathizes with the guy while the other thinks he's being a childish prude. I have my own share of severe mental disorders so I understand that part but he/she is coming across so cold and cynical that as a person, I don't want to support them despite their situation. Lying to your fans and stealing from them because a couple gave you problems isn't right and in the grand scheme he's/she's just put on a bigger scene than necessary. Not trying to but just seems like such an asshole thing to do.

For all his ranting and raving and protestation and petty demonstrations, all John Campbell is doing is demonstrating the fatal flaws in kickstarter's business model.

This is one of those times were I kind of feel bad about laughing at it. The kickstarter page reads like someone that desperately needs help, and then you get this:

All right: I want direct funding for my living necessities. I want to establish relationships with a group of people who can pay for my baseline needs like food and rent. I am looking for people who do not feel they need to see any “return” on their “investment.” I am looking for people who understand that money is a bad joke we use to hurt each other. I’m looking for people who like me were born with a lot of privileges but who have had the awareness and emotional stability to keep their bucket under the faucet when the money comes out.

If you don't care about money, why the flying fuck are you out begging for it? If you feel it's so awful and you know you're so privileged, why not do what all those poor people you sympathize so much with do and get a fucking job.

Maybe that's a little too A-Loggy, but they're being such a hypocrite. Talking about how privileged they are for having people willing to help them, and then trying to e-beggar from that same network. It isn't some grand stunt to illustrate the problems with capitalism, it's begging for money and then trying to cover it up with self-righteous bullshit.

It's not too A-Loggy. Just consider this by itself:

tl;dr: I don't want to have to earn my keep like everyone else on the planet has to.

That is precisely what he is doing. Also breach of contract, fraud…

Edit: It seems likely from his diatribe that the backers he defrauded were at the high end of the $51,000 he received. Any one of them could fuck him for life in civil court if they chose to do so. And possibly proffer criminal charges: stealing more than $300, which John Campbell most definitely has done (by my rough calculations he made off with close to $20,000), is a felony in Illinois. I'm often baffled how some people manage to expose themselves to truly crushing liability (such as vehicular assault on the same person on multiple occasions to name one example taken completely at random) and yet skate by simply because they are not worth the bother of crushing.

Privileged jackasses like this love to wax on about how enlightened their moneyless, soul-searching lifestyle/philosophy is.

But every single one of them willfully turns a blind eye to the fact that the support for their lifestyle comes from someone else's hard work.

A good move on Kate's part. She's one of the few web comic artists I actively support still. Hell, I gave one of my old High School history teachers a copy of her book for Christmas (which she loved).
