Lol he's pissed off more people than Trump. First he got the left screaming and gloating about him dying of brain cancer by voting on a procedural vote that moved the bill to an actual up and down vote, with much weeping and wailing and screaming about how he was literally murdering everyone in America, then he pissed off the other side.

And now Trump is the salty one.

he could have killed the bill five days before but he just fucked with everyone to wring a final round of maverick articles out of the media before dying of brain cancer it rules

Not gonna lie, I was shocked that McCain voted no. I mean, it was the right thing to do but he was at one point the presidential nominee of the Repubs and here he is killing one of their big acts to undo everything Obama did.

That's a politician actually doing his fucking job! Never would have imagined it happening in today's setting!

Maybe he dragged it out so his own party wouldn't be raging at him for another five days?

Weren't they supposed to replace it with something? I distinctly recall them saying replacing Obamacare with another system.

The Affordable Healthcare Act is a far worse system (as deconstructed by folks like Last Week Tonight and otherwise) that basically gave incentives to the rich, reduced controls on Big Pharma, and basically fucked the lower economic classes by raking them over the coals of medical costs. Obamacare ain't perfect, but it sure as hell is preferable to the shit the Republicans have been trying to force into play for the past 7 months.

I have disagreed with McCain on most things over the past 16 years. For the most part I think he's a piece of shit. But he has his principles, and he is consistent (as long as one doesn't insist on black and white stances). Over the last few months I think he's been doing a good job. Odds are his replacement will be worse. At least he could be counted on to speak against torture.

Honestly, I think a lot of Republicans in congress don't actually want to be responsible for the ACA being repealed. It may be flawed, and it's a great thing to rail against, but they know repeal would be a disaster and don't want to bear the blame. It's better to be able to bitch about something beyond your control than have the power to change it and fuck it up worse.

Too bad he gonna die
I wonder if that has something to do with his vote? This guy constantly blasts trump's opinions on bills, and the GOP's new bills as poorly written legislation that doesnt fix a problem, then goes and votes yes on whatever the party put in place anyway.

Up until this skinny bill. All of a sudden he acts on his words.

Perhaps being told "you have terminal brain cancer" jogged him back into reality? Or perhaps he decided "Fuck it, Im gonna die anyway., might as well do something to be remembered by. " and decided that torpedoing the GOP plan and preventing a healthcare crisis was the best way to do it.

Either way, I'm glad he voted no. I know many people that would have been badly hurt in the long run if the ACA provisions were repealed (myself included) and going massively into debt is not something I want to do right now.

I think John just wants to save face lol at least Trump actually shows some general insight on Healthcare that isn't parroting everyone else. Don't repeal it, whatever, but McCain is a fraud hack that sold out to the democrats as well as the Republican flakes.

We're never gonna have a breadwinner Healthcare anytime soon anyways.
