The Tupac/Notorious B.I.G movie ‘City of Lies’, starring Johnny Depp, has been pulled from release just one month before it was due in cinemas.

Depp stars as Russell Poole, a Los Angeles Police Department detective who has spent years trying to solve the murders of The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Forest Whitaker also stars as journalist Jackson, who teams with Depp to find the truth about the rappers’ deaths.

The film was due for release on September 7th but according to THR, it has now been pulled from the schedule. Its yet to have a new release date. You can see the trailer for the film below.

The news comes after Depp experienced a host of problems in his professional and personal life. As well as his break up from former partner Amber Heard, Depp found himself in a legal battle with his former managers, revealing that almost all of his fortune was gone.

Depp’s casting as Gellert Grindelwald in The Crimes of Grindrlwald was also defended by both the upcoming film’s director David Yates and the author of the series, JK Rowling, following a backlash from fans after Depp had previously been accused assaulting his ex-wife, Heard.

Depp denied all claims of domestic violence and the pair later settled their divorce and the domestic abuse case.

Earlier this year, Depp spoke about his battle with depression that followed these personal and professional issues.

“I was as low as I believe I could have gotten..the next step [for me] was, ‘You’re going to arrive somewhere with you eyes open and you’re going to leave there with your eyes closed. I couldn’t take the pain every day.”

“I poured myself vodka in the morning and started writing until the tears filled my eyes and I couldn’t see the page anymore,” Depp said, detailing how he wrote a diary to help him whilst on tour with his band, the Hollywood Vampires.

He added: “I kept trying to figure out what I’d done to deserve this. I’d tried being kind to everyone. The truth is most important to me. And all this still happened.”

I am an unabashed lover of the first three Pirates films, but I will say the magic of those films has little to do with Jack Sparrow and more to do with the brilliant spectacle and visual splendor of those films. The films are downright beautiful. Their stories are fun. The set-pieces are amazing. There's so much to like about those movies besides Johnny Depp, so its unfortunate that Depp is the only thing they really brought back for the 4th and 5th films.

I guess what I'm saying is find the shallow grave Disney buried Gore Verbanski in after the Lone Ranger flopped and have him direct the reboot. That chubby dweeb makes good shit.

The trilogy was fine where it was. They ended it with a very impressive maelstrom ship battle which is already hard to top. They didn't need to make extra movies and Jack Sparrow was always better as a supporting character. I would like to see more pirate movies down the line, but make them their own thing or franchise. PotC is done with in my mind and it's really just beating a dead horse at this point.

I actually wouldn't be opposed to a Monkey Island movie...

Imagine if they split the second and third movies into four smaller movies that I don't have to put in for time off to actually watch.

@BradyBunchFan please copy and paste the article into the OP. It saves me from clicking to their website. My mom can’t make me leave the basement and you can’t make me leave kiwi farms.

So Johnny Depp starred in a movie about investigating the 2Pac murder. Like 100% completed. It was pulled from release a month before it hit theaters due to Depp mostly being a drunk toxic wife beating asshole. Was set for a summer release.

Related? Probably. Although for once Disney is canning somebody for things they did in real life and not on twitter. What a time to be alive.

Honestly, seeing guybrush treepwood, mighty pirate and Elaine one last time would be worth shilling out to Disney

I heard Pirates was always planned to be a series of six films, but by the fourth film, everyone had forgotten/no longer cared about the franchise (personally, I thought it was because the third film was underwhelming). Then it ended up taking six years for the fifth movie to come out, and it bombed. And with Depp's life spiraling out of control, I'm not all that surprised by this.

But a fucking reboot? Really? Just let it sit for another decade until Disney needs to renovate their attraction to attract the younger generation.
