An actual lawyer of the sort hired by a multimillionaire who doesn't give a shit how much money he spends can keep even a crap lawsuit alive for months or years. If you have even a marginal grasp on civil procedure, an unlimited budget, and a lack of ethics, you may not be able to win your lawsuit, but you can fuck with the other side indefinitely.

What about Monserrats lawyer? Can lawyers get in trouble for filing vexatious lawsuits for thier clients?

I'm not a lawyer (I just know vague bits of how US law works), and I'm sure I'm just repeating what's already been stated in this thread, but holy shit, Brian Zaiger is an idiot for how he handled this. It's so stupid he deserves getting raped for all he's worth in income from the law firm he hired.

It's too bad this is another nail in the coffin of Encyclopedia Dramatica. I know I loved the site in '07-'08 for all the weirdos featured there. It's a shame it got deleted, and it was never the same afterwards, although '09-'12 ED was still pretty great. I remember when I was over my friend's house and my friend's brother was like "Check ED, Human Centipede is featured". After that they didn't have much aside from @FuckYou's obsession with mass murderers to offer.

ED is a classic piece of internet history, but it needs to rest at this point.

Randazza would have nothing to gain from actually forcing him into bankruptcy and resulting in the debt being discharged, so unless Zaiger does that on his own, I don't see the issue being forced unless Zaiger somehow later comes up with enough money or income to pay it off or cut a deal for a part of it.

If Randazza gets a fee award, he's the one who's getting that, and he will. Monsarrat is not the kind of judgment proof loser who can't be collected against, which is peculiar because most purely vexatious litigants like this douche know better than to act like this. Randazza often takes this kind of case where the litigants involved are pretty dodgy and he might not get all or most of his usual high fee.

The high risk of this kind of thing is one of many reasons it's reasonable for him to charge fees like that.

Eventually, more of them join your group. Eventually, your friends leave, and the group becomes a group of people impersonating your group of friends. The cycle continues indefinitely until the theater goes out of business.

Encyclopedia Dramatica was a lightning rod for controversy at its peak in 2007. Most imageboards singlehandedly blamed ED for spawning newfags who then spread their cancer everywhere. Of course, ED was eventually accepted after enough damage was done by the time KnowYourMeme and other such sites cropped up, so it all looked entirely acceptable by comparison. Besides, bitching about newfags got passé after awhile.

At this point, it's just a matter of when, not if, ED will finally shut down for good. They don't get ad revenue, the userbase that mattered left the site only for it to be overrun by the newfags, it's a wonder they're still alive when their relevancy died out well over a decade ago.

And even if he's ruined and ends up living in a cage under my bed taking female hormones and sucking my dick for food, ED will live on. Even when Sherrod deliberately destroyed it, people sifted through webcaches to restore it as best they could ; and I can't imagine Zaiger spitefully deleting it, no matter what. If he can't afford to keep running it he'll just pass it off to somebody who can.

Zaiger can't spitefully delete it because he doesn't have axx to the servers.
