The Canadian government and specifically Justin Trudeau handing out cash has literally nothing to do with any Canadian legal system. Those weren't Canadian crimes, so Canada was under under no obligation to pay.
Khadr had been looking to both the US and Canada for money, both countries denied him for close to a decade. No court in Canada ruled in his favor in terms of giving him any money.

If you recall these were the same (fake) charges that were brought up against Donald Smith. The only reason he spent time in jail is because he couldn't afford bail. Donald's bail was eventually fronted and the charges stayed. So I highly doubt Jonathan is going to jail.

I really hope that the police looked into the charges against Donald and go after Jon for submitting false reports.
