As Oger pointed out - one of the pageants takes place on a boat. That boat is not registered to a port in Canada. The company putting on that pageant is based out of Florida. There's no jurisdiction under any Canadian law whatsoever, and Yaniv will be utterly shocked to find that Florida's state laws aren't as insane as our provincial law.

The other pageant is an Ontario company. Ontario has its own legislative body, human rights code, and human rights tribunal. Oh - and their tribunal can and does award costs.

Regarding the boat one, I agree. Regarding the Ontario one, I explicitly addressed that and I don't see why you're so optimistic that they will be so much less favourable to JY than BC.

The MSC Seaside (post 5322) is registered in Malta, and the pageant cruise starts in Miami and goes through the Caribbean, so it really sounds as if JY is talking through his ass versus Oger. Crucially important is that Oger has a prominent political position with major pull, and isn't enthusiastically cosigning onto more JY antics. @Cato is correct in outlining how the complaint for Galaxy pageant up in Ontario may have merit, but expect Oger to express that this is a provincial matter handled outside British Columbia. Specifically, they thought that defamation was a criminal law matter and that the BCHRT publication ban applied to all sorts of subject matter and contexts that it did not.

Treat any statement of law by Oger with scepticism.

Why would Oger be wrong about the boat? There's no IRL competition in Canada evidently, it is two phone calls to "decide" whether they get to pay to go on a Malta-registered vessel that docks in Miami and goes out into the Caribbean. I'd expect that arrangement to be something bchrt could do even less about than the FL-based hq of Dear Leader.

If there is, in fact, a company registered in BC engaging in screening practices there that allegedly contravene the Human Rights Code, that means the respondent is based in BC and the alleged act of discrimination took place in BC. The rest of what you mentioned would be irrelevant.

This is, of course, dependent on that actually being the case. Again, this is a bit convoluted and I haven't fully explored it (contradictory information is being posted in this thread) so I'm reluctant to fully commit to a position here.
