Jordan Peterson addiction became an issue when he started receiving mentions on the internet. And because he is a faggot who couldn't deal with being famous he started abusing benzos to calm him down.

Thing about benzos is that they generate dependancy on the user more so than any other drug because they directly affect serotonin levels, meaning you can't withdraw them as any other drug. You need another drug to counteract the effect of withdrawal.

He is now a broken man, followed by young men who are faggots themselves and need their daddy figure to tell them what to feel and how to act.

Case in point this cuck:

Since YouTube's an American company and is bound by American laws, I don't think Trudeau will be able to do anything about that.
This Bill C-10 thing is kind of important actually I was unaware of it but reading into it I found the stated purpose of the bill is to bring online media including YouTube and large streaming platforms under certain regulations of the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission. What this will primarily effect is discoverability. Under the current regulations radio and television needs at least 35% of its broadcast content to be Canadian so the intent is to expand this to the online media realm which is going to be a challenge. This will mean if you are in Canada you will be recommended Canadian culture, movies, music and television etc. at a higher rate. The Canadian government has a fund for the arts through Canadian Public Broadcasting and other institutions so my guess is artists receiving this funding will be the ones getting a boost in discoverability.
There is a vital importance in Canada to preserve the culture of our French speaking population and to promote French language media. It is one of the reasons we have been able to avoid the political tension and terrorist violence posed by French separatist movements since the 1970’s. It was not long ago Canada had to impose martial law in French Canada during the FLQ crises. For this reason nearly everything in Canada must be bilingual by law and government employees are often given French language lessons or strongly encouraged to learn French. Honestly I wish I knew French it makes getting jobs a lot easier especially where I am but I digress.

The other point to this is the larger one of our neighbour to the south the good ol U, S of A. There is a ton of spillover into Canadian culture from American media and politics. Sometimes Canadians focus more on what’s happening in the USA than they do Canada. I don’t consider this a bad thing necessarily American culture and media are fantastic and it’s a free country you are allowed to form your own sense of culture and identity. But Canadian identity has always been political ever since Canada became a sovereign nation for the reason that Canadians often make a point to define Canadian identity by what separates us from the Americans. For one we have a monarchy, and in our nation’s mythology we were the loyalists who burned down the White House in the War of 1812. The British deliberately intstilled this in Anglo-Canadians so they had a pride and patriotism to a flag that belonged to their own soil but one which still signified its ties to the British Empire and provided raw materials to them.

This is one side to Canadian nationalism the other is socially progressive nationalism celebrating Canadian identity through universal healthcare, multiculturalism and Canadian friendliness (a facade I claim, Canada fucked over First Nations people with genocidal policies for nearly a century and to this day our resource extraction companies are still doing it) it’s a controversial matter but it’s something the government is apologizing for now through truth and reconciliation. This is another part of promoting Canadian culture, First Nations culture is becoming as important as promoting French identity so it makes sense the boosting to different artists will probably reflect where you are in Canada and what First Nations land you are on.

I’ve seen some commentators call this Canadian liberal-leftist nationalism, they might be right it ticks all of the boxes for representation and diversity but it’s not like the conservatives are any better when they make this claim. They spent loads of money on the monarchy with tax payers money to put up large commissioned portraits of the Queen in government buildings and built a giant statue of her majesty. They even spent loads of money for some naval battle re-enactment costing the tax payers $28 million dollars! I could go on Canada is hilarious it’s just like how South Park depicts us it’s sadly true on some level and Canadians know it.

Edit: I forgot to mention CBC is a public broadcasting company it’s primary purpose is to present news to Canadians paid for by the tax payers. This means there is no profit motive and no corporate or partisan interference since it is designed to serve as a public good with a mandate to provide Canadians with national and regional news. CBC also features publicly funded arts and television. What a lot this Bill C-10 boils down to is protectionism for Canadian film, television and music industry.

Jordan Peterson probably won’t be that effected by this or drowned out by any means. He is just mad because he thinks signal boosting is unearned and he didn’t need it yet he was signal boosted back in the day on TVO a provincially funded network so he’s really not one to make hay of this in my opinion.

This isn't exactly true; he's talked about it in regards to his lobster example (the value of anti-depressants) and he's expanded on it on a number of occassions.
I'm not exactly an avid Jordan Peterson watcher (clearly), so I've still never seen any clips like that before. Thank you for letting me know, I'll follow up or edit this post if I find clips where he says anything egregious/funny on the topic.

If that's all it is, I still wonder how the heck they're going to pull it off. It's not as easy to mandate it for the Internet as it is for TV.

Good god i haven't thought of this hypocrite until i saw this thread pop up. Guy disapeared off the internet despite being the savior of "men" telling them to wipe there asses and go to work. Then again the free speach activist who kicked out a anoying right-winger from his convention makes him look like the defender of speech we all need.

Peterson is a psychologist, not a psychiatrist, and that means he's a "people person," not too concerned with the legitimacy, implications, or mechanisms of treatment. He has stayed far and away from discussing medication or how you should use it in public, as he well should, for exactly this reason: he even blindsided himself with some of his choices and actions around medication.
I don't think anyone should listen to Peterson when it comes to anything medicine-related

Was that the time the dude in the audience was asking JP to acknowledge the amount of Jewish representation in the Bolshevik revolution and suggested there is a coordinated effort by Jews to destroy Christianity or take revenge something like that.

I think most people would want to kick the guy out, because he's a conspiracist crank, but when you call yourself a "defender of free speech," well...

I'm still baffled that anyone with a basic understanding of mental health would be drugged in Russia for a benzo addiction. A doctor supervised taper (which can take anywhere from weeks to months to a year or two) is the only real way to treat a benzo addiction. He claimed in the video where he discusses it he didn't realize how addictive they were when the first reports of the addiction protentional go back to the early 1960s.
Some people get in over their heads with benzos because they think "well, I'm not the addictive type, that's just something dumb junkies have to worry about, I'll just take them as needed" but then you start taking them and you're feeling pretty good and they help so much and it's real easy to stop giving a shit about addiction potential when you've medicated away all your anxiety that would normally tell you that maybe you're getting into deep water with this shit.

The Russian detox thing is crazy though, but addicts get desperate. You'd hope his family or his doctor would have tried to talk him out of it. Who knows, maybe they did and he wasn't having it.

I wonder if he realizes how much he fits the wounded healer archetype. Anyone know if he's ever spoken about that?

Peterson didn’t stop him when he knew where he was going with his question. I think he made the right decision not to engage him though. It’s kind of like talking to someone who is pathologically obsessed with the idea that their wife is cheating on them, they will try and convince you with a bunch of evidence and facts about where their wife goes during the day which might all be true but it’s still working within the framework of a pathological fear that they’ve held about their wife from the outset whether or not she is unfaithful. So let’s say there were a lot of Jews who were Soviet commissars or so many bankers in Germany who were Jewish it’s still a Nazi’s set of facts and evidence not really worth engaging with, you’ve kind of sold your soul if you choose to argue a set of facts coming from someone whose whole framework is busted.

I mean does free speech really mean we need to discuss why rape is wrong, at a certain point the conversation around certain subjects closes and society moves on. Anyone who argues for rape now a days is automatically invalidated and dismissed as an idiot. No laws need to exist preventing that speech but there is more or less a consensus that it’s in everybody’s best interest to not let that person have the stage. Roosh V is one such example, to PL a little he tried to come to my city for his tour and the city wasn’t going to let him have a venue nor any private businesses so it all kind of worked out like that. Even the mayor came out to flat out tell him publicly he wasn’t welcome to speak and he had to cancel his visit.

Edit: Also regarding Bill C-10 this guy's video explains it pretty well

That was her name i forgot about her and his retarted event. If you call it a free speach event you have to let everyone come and speak about what ever it is. Even in Merica certain subjects is taboo like Pedophila and others that the gov't and the masses don't like because it harms people. Or is just a case of one group said it so its bad but another group that we support says the same thing then its good. So in practice there is no freedom of speach despite the constitution supporting it but because of certain taboos that the vast majority and law makers don't support speach is limited. Or god forbid protest a war outside of a recruiting office your ass gets sent to jail and the supreme court says its ok because we need to fight.

Freedom of speech isn't about saying whatever you want and have no consequences for it, is about not being regulated by anyone else when constructing your argument.

You can argue about anything, but when someone (in this case platforms or government) want to censor you because arbitrary rules imposed by them, then that's when freedom of speech is violated.

American are such litigous mofo's. You should think of freedom of speech at least as much as an ideal as a law.

Just because no law is violated when twitter censors politicians (in my country because it was "fake news", when 2 weeks later he was proven right, in your country censoring the president), doesn't mean that the ideal of free speech isn't under assault.

So @Jazz never died! is right when saying that it goes against the spirit of free speech and it's why the crowd is deadly silent when they give their reasons. The fact that they are able to turn it around at all is pretty surprising and that they end up applauding for it made me laugh, but not in a good way.

Case in point this cuck:

Peterson in his current incarnation is mostly a tragic figure, which makes all those who look up to him as a source of inspiration all the sadder.

By far the most damning thing that can be said of Peterson though is not that he's weak or broken, but that he's simply bland. Even at the height of his fame, his message barely amounted to more than a mixture of self-help platitudes and conservative obscurantism, yet people ate it up because they were taken in by Peterson's sententious delivery.

Witnessing these people get all worked up and self-important about such outright banalities as "take responsibility" and "clean your room" is as hilarious as it is maddening.

It's bizarre to me that so many people view him this way. I guess if you closely followed him it would seem like he's half extremely generic self-help daddy figure, half faux right wing political grifter, but to me the only content I ever watched from him was his interesting takes on marriage and his interesting takes on Christianity.

Once I actually converted to Christianity I realized basically all of his takes on it were utter garbage thought up by someone who doesn't even know what it means to be religious but likes religious imagery. All of old lecture content on marriage is still excellent IMO though, he has some takes that are genuinely radical and idiosyncratic especially for a modern intellectual.

This one is still a classic https://youtu.be/uHg5eBKzGps

I strongly recommend watching the lecture series based on his books "Maps of Meaning". There are a few iterations of the series, based on the year. I watched a very old one, when he was teaching at Harvard, and then the one from - I think - 2016. Definitely watch the latter. I found some of his takes really interesting.
