American Gods was a fucking pretentious book. Nicely written, but pretentious af. He and Terry Pratchett already wrote exactly the same book and a lot better in the form of Good Omens.

My copy of American Gods has a "suggested questions for reading groups" in the back, which I hate because it's universally acknowledged that such things are another way of drawing attention to how smart you think you are.

Damn it. Now I'm going to have finish those books. I think I only read the first couple. They were one of those things I liked but have also never understood the way they get revered by a lot of comics readers. Maybe I just didn't stick with them long enough.
