So thanks to fan pressure (autistic screeching) over social media and other mediums, we're going to finally be getting a Judge Dredd TV series. Whether it'll be on Netflix or some other channel is unknown, and who will play Dredd is also unknown at this point.

Personally, I'm fucking ecstatic about this. We're finally getting a much needed breath of fresh air in a market over-saturated with DC vs. Marvel and superhero shit. What do y'all think?

They better fucking cast Karl Urban as Dredd or im gonna fucking punch their assholes until I reach their throat

We just need to screech harder. Hell, Karl Urban has said quite a few times he wouldn't mind reprising his role as Dredd. Pretty sure the guy would even take a pay cut if it meant being Dredd. Shit, there's really no excuse to not have him as Dredd.

Seriously

And let's be honest if there's even a tv show being made, it's because of his role in the 2012 reboot, not because of the Stallone movies or die hard comic books fans

CAST KARL URBAN NOW

I mean shit that's like 3 months ago clearly he's into it

well really, to be honest, I'm not gonna hype over a poster, probably will forget about this and be surprised when it actually comes out. But Dredd I don't really find working as a TV show since I don't see Dredd as an interesting protagonist, he is a by the books cop and takes his job seriously, I do enjoy the 2000AD comics but I really don't see this kind of world with a TV budget but we will have to see. now I'm just wanting to see CHEW cartoon as a sort of adult swim show orHBO miniseries I can see that being funny.

I could picture Judge Dredd as a good 90's MTV cartoon, if only. I thought Dredd was great, the Stallone movie had some parts I liked but overall was and "eh" movie, when it comes to the 90s movie I would say just watch Demolition Man instead. I wonder if the series will have Walter the robot?

Being that this is going to be a new incarnation, it was assumed that Urban wouldn’t be able to reprise the role he had been longer for over the past half decade. Well, executive producer Jason Kingsley shared some good news on the official 2000 AD podcast:

“The great thing about Karl is, he’s actually a big fan of the comic book, and he’s a really nice guy, and I know him well enough to speak to him personally,” Kingsley explained. “We have had many conversations prior to this about all sorts of different things. He’s also a very busy full-time professional actor. So, we are going to have some long and complicated conversations, I would imagine, and we’ll see where we go. It’s too easy to tell yet. But if we can use him, and he is available to us, then I think that would be absolutely brilliant.

Urban would actually fit perfectly into the new series as it will focus on multiple Judges, as opposed to just Dredd.

Initial reports peg the series as set in a future where the East Coast of the U.S. has become a crowded and crime-ridden megalopolis. The ensemble drama will follow a team of Judges — futuristic cops invested with the power to be judge, jury, and executioner — as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them.

fuck yeah

I like the idea of not just focusing on Dredd. I love the character, but at the same time there's so much to explore in the Dreddverse. If they could incorporate spin-offs like Devlin Waugh and the Simping Detective, the possibilities are limitless. Even if they stuck to the more grounded elements, as in the 2012 film, there's still characters like Max Normal, Dirty Frank and P J Maybe.

Personally, I'd love to see them tackle the Democracy storyline. It's great satire wherever you stand on the political spectrum, and I think would be an obvious place for the 2012 movie universe to go.
