Show of Force is an effective psychological warfare tactic. Deafen him, disorientate him, allow him no sleep, constant noise, under constant surveillance, can't make a run for it... All while the pilots keep their training boxes ticked.
i dont think this will work against a trained and experienced professional soldier who is a combat veteran and planned his going rogue in advance

You cant train and experience and plan your way out of sleep deprivation or being on edge every second you're awake from constant pursuit for day after day. You gotta have a plan beforehand to avoid that as much as you can or hope you can slip away before your drugs run out. I assume this guy has some benzos and speed or something to help him with all that

Depends; sensor suites have come *long* way in the past 5-7 years. If people really knew....

Anyways; the eye in the sky prefers to loiter for CAS/S&R, but now they're sending the sensor data back and feeding it through some L3 high-zoot analysis blackware.
The pilots (or WSO) aren't going to see him on the fly; what they're looking for now are the same sort of thing we do when tracking game, i.e. trail sign, disturbed vegetation/soil, etc.... the same kind of shit we look for when rooting haji out of their dirtholes, using sensors & tracker/emitters other than optical & IR.
I know what sensors can do, what people don't realise is that 90% of the tech comes from Israel...

As for the S&R, it doesn't get conducted at a ceiling of 1000ft-2500ft. Going so low at those speeds is highly pointless for imaging tech (unless it really has come a long way in the past 5 years), as the images are layered over one another to build an accurate 3D model. The only reason (i'm aware of) that those jets would be flying so low, is to let the fella they're tracking that they're on to him and know where he is.

Otherwise they would fly in a circle formation at a higher altitude so that the images have more exposure time, making smaller disturbances easier to identify.

Be trained all you want, you can't train the mind to not want sleep. Can a trained solder deal with the effects longer than the average joe on the street? Sure they can, but they can't stop the effects after a while.

Jurgen has an Interpol Red Notice (archive) now as well, he's on the front page. Not that it'll likely matter, due to the lack of Schengen zone internal border controls.

At this point I'm leaning towards him faking out the police by leaving the car in the forest. I'd be surprised as well if he'd managed to handle the sleep deprivation, stress, etc. for over a week now while evading pursuit.

Achievement unlocked! First white guy on Interpol's most wanted list in what, 30 years?

You can buy pretty good thermal tech that's just a little janky from random Chinese sellers for under 1k. And that's consumer tech. If we have access to 480p devices we can attach to our smartphones and flip through different thermal gradients, record video, take photos, the world's militaries probably have access to ones that operate at at least 240 hz, at 8k resolution. And that's probably an understatement.

Yep, and not even at 1K. For a bare bones setup, thermal tech is ridiculously cheap lately if you know where to look and don't mind getting your hands dirty.

I've literally build my own thermal scope for around $200 based on an MLX90640 chipset. It can do thermal overlay on top of a video feed from a regular (non-IR filtered) camera. Just add an IR illuminator and you got a hybrid 1st gen night vision/thermal rig. With the cheapo Melexis module the thermal resolution is only 32x24 at 8FPS, but upgrading to a $300 FLIR Lepton module will provide 80x60 resolution and a better FPS. And obviously you can add various color gradients, recording, and even streaming out video via wifi in the code. And yes, it runs Doom. Not gonna put up any code but it's pretty easy to replicate with just some rudimentary Python and C++ knowledge. Don't forget to up your I2C bus speed to 1MBit/sec and have some proper cooling because the whole thing will get hot.

Hm. I had to get into thermal imaging tech for a scientific project once, and it seems like with pyroelectric sensors the optical resolution is limited to mostly XGA and something around 30 Hz at most and at the moment, but on the other hand I was mostly looking at extreme thermal resolutions as well, so if you don't need 20 mK in that regard, there's probably something better available.

That's what I meant, but 30hz at 480x320 and such, much better than what used to be avaliable. Above 1k there are more and more impressive, robust options with higher resolutions. If that is what is freely available I would imagine that there are much better options to those willing to pay a fortune.

Received a meme.

"Belgium defense department knows how hard it is to find good personnel"

>trust gf with secret plans
>immediately rats him out to the cops

the dude is blackpilled to the point where he's willing to go out in a suicidal attack agains the government, but still commits the biggest possible opsec fuckup by telling a roastie about it? you'd think he'd have stopped trusting anybody a long time ago
sad but also hilarious in a tragic way
You take the blackpills one at a time. This was the next one for him.

Also considering he still isn't found, I wonder if one if his old buddies found him in the forest and just didn't say anything.

If you leave a suicide note to your GF, does that count as breaking up?

Considering he told her to forget him as quickly as possible and move on and find someone new..... yes.

This guy should be teaching every SERE school on what he did to evade or he's the greatest spook agent, not in that forrest, and already out of the country. I do not know if he's the cream of the crop at hide-and-seek with avoiding 24/7 military ISR eyes or it's just the Belgium incompetence that took +120 days to find the train bomber that was chilling in Brussels the whole time.

To be fair dude hasn't been caught yet, so give him some time.

Perhaps we'll get a "little did he know, that what he did will spark a chain of events that will topple the world" kind of storyline in this clown world.

Already a better plot than any Hollywood movie in the past decade.
