It's been around on a small scale for a very long time, and every few years one hu-white liberal or another tries to make it break out. I've seen it flogged in the media for at least 10 years, this is just the year it hit critical mass.
I don't consider this a powerlevel: I'm getting the rug pulled out from under me because of this surprise holiday with no notice. Tomorrow's going to be a royal pain. I hope Biden desperately needs a court order, a letter mailed, his driver's license renewed, or something every June 19 for the rest of his life.
I though this weird shit was already a federal holiday with how it's been marked on all calenders on my computer since the last like 5 years or so and I was like "yo what the fuck is juneteenth" only to find out it was this thing thats like "ah yes the last day ending with teen in june and black pride because something something confederacy"

I did a Google nGram. It only goes up to 2019, but it's something. They really started drumming up interest in the 90s, but stopped suddenly after 2005.
Here it is compared to another beloved American holiday, Boxing Day:
It was neck-and-neck for a while, but Boxing Day is clearly more popular than Juneteenth. If you're an American and you don't know what the hell Boxing Day is, don't worry, it's not a thing in America. And Juneteenth is even less of a thing.
It's going to be on Father's Day next year.
