I've seen some people here and there claim this has been a holiday for nearly a century now, but what I want to see is some solid evidence. Newspaper clippings from decades ago, local news segments of 'Juneteenth Parades', hell even some family videos from pre 2010 of some kid's family 'Juneteenth' party. What, exactly, do you do on Juneteenth? Do people sing 'Amazing Grace'? Are there cook-outs or fireworks or dramatic re-enactments of the Gettysburg Address? Genuinely curious here, I desperately want to believe this isn't some ruse to 'invent' a new holiday and immediately start capitalizing on it.

Also Juneteenth is a dumb fucking name; it should have been called Emancipation Day. At least I understand what that holiday is about. 'Juneteenth' sounds about as fake as 'Decemberween' which was a fictitious holiday invented by Homestar Runner:

I miss Trump each day. Biden does noting but shit on his own country consently. The fact that he even stated that America still is very racist. Is hurtful and dishonest especially after many whites voted for Obama and he screwed them over in the long run.

We had a team meeting at my job the other day and someone asked my boss if we're going to be getting a floating holiday for this like they do for other national holidays that we are still open for like Memorial Day. He had to pivot into how great of an idea it is to make this a holiday while completely avoiding giving an answer. So I'm guessing that's a no.
