Jurassic Park/World megathread - Spared no expense.

Thought I'd start a thread about everything Jurassic Park realted. From the 1990 novel by michael crichton to the as of this post upcoming end of the world trilogy domination and everything in between. Comics video games even kenner/hasbro's toylines.

Jurassic park has been a part of my life as far back as the very beginning. No really a birthday gift my uncle gave me for my first birthday was the brown young t-rex and I've had the little rexy jr for years...still miss her a little bit even today. Also remember having the first two movies on vhs and had the lost world with the holographic cover. The first film I actually saw in theaters was jpIII. And for a while after my interest kinda faded. But as soon as the trailer for Jurassic world dropped it felt like being a carefree little kid all over again.

The first movie is still in my top five of all time. Some of my earliest memories are of the first one. Fucking A-grade.

Jurassic World sucked. I REALLY wish we got that dino/human hybrid movie instead.

The book and movie are two complete different experiences and I love it. The book basically turns dinosaurs into poorly-made freaks of nature that will fuck you up while the movie captures the child's whimsy of it all. I can enjoy them as two separate entities with different visions and themes.

I do wish that a JP film would feature some legitimate dinosaur horror like in the book though. A flat-out Crichton-esque film where the dinosaurs are horrifying beyond words would be neat and a much fresher approach to the series instead of these poorly-made CG wankfests they've become, complete with Marvel quips and forgettable characters.

Jurassic Park is to me what Star Wars is to a lot of people, the movie is pretty much the first movie I can remember seeing in theaters and there was a time when I was a kid when I would watch my Jurassic Park VHS multiples times daily, I mean I was completely obsessed.

Unfortunately the franchise never came close to recapturing that same magic, The Lost World is only ok, I remember thinking as a kid that it was ok, but definitely not as good as the original, III is just plain forgettable and mediocre.

I don't hate the World movies though, I wish that they were better, but they don't go out of their way to piss on fans like Disney's Star Wars, they are in fact very respectful of the original movie, so while I wish that they were better they don't make me angry either.

Of course I only consider Jurassic Park's "hard canon" what was derived from Michael Crichton and what was directed by Spielberg, it's easy for me to see the World movies as a sort of "what if" spinoff like that Trespasser video game and from that perspective they're decently fun movies if you don't take them too seriously.

I would be totally fine if they rebooted Jurassic Park one day, albeit if they stuck closer to the tone of the original novel, closer to a horror movie where the dinosaurs are pants shittingly scary, that'd be pretty amazing actually.

There's some speculation it's a coaster that was originally meant to be based on the one that appears in telltale's Jurassic Park the game but for whatever reason telltale refused to cooperate and provide details or concept art or anything that would help with the design and look of the coaster so they instead reworked it into an all new one.

Yeah the world films may not be perfect but at least unlike star wars they don't go out of their way to insult fans and in some cases actually listen to fan criticism instead of shrugging it off or even making things worse.

They simply aren't mean spirited movies, which these days counts for a lot.

Colin Trevorrow just has a desire to entertain you, his talent may have it's limits, but his heart is in the right place.

So like I said while I wish the World movies were better, they don't make me angry, things could be a lot worse, I'm glad Jurassic Park managed to avoid the fate of a lot of franchises these days.

Do you guys have any dinosaurs you really wanna see return in Jurassic World Dominion? I'm hoping for more of the Allosaurus from Battle of Big Rock, I really like the design of it. I really want the JP3 Ceratasaurus to reappear but it's unlikely.
