I'm jumping on the "Location Q&A" bandwagon! Kansas is that one U.S. state right in the middle, with tornadoes and Wizard of Oz and agriculture everywhere. You may have passed through it during roadtrips.

I've lived here all my life. Ask away, and I'll do my best to answer! We may both learn something in the process!

Have you yourself ever experienced a tornado?
During the spring and summer, in Kansas there are tornado watches (possibility of a tornado, watch out) and tornado warnings (tornado on the ground, go to the basement now!) all the time. But thankfully, I've never experienced a tornado actually destroying my home or somewhere nearby it.

Basements are essential in "tornado alley."

Do you get people who rhyme Kansas with Arkansas? I read once that they are supposed to be read the same... I stand under correction though...

In Wichita there is a large (kind of polluted) river that runs through it, the Arkansas River. Kansans tend to rhyme "Arkansas" with "Kansas", rather than pronounce it "Arkansaw" as most of the United States does.
