Hmmm, what is the next step in Kyle's career? It looks like it's begging for pitybux on patreon. When most people talk about furthering their career they look at leveraging their current position for one with higher pay and more presitge. Maybe they change companies for one which offers profit sharing or that allows them to travel. Perhaps they spent a year at a lower payscale than they'd have liked, but now they can leave their stepping stone with the experience and a specific title competitors are looking for. Kyle has no career path.
Kyle has no career to speak of. His career, in the loosest interpretation of the word, is working freelance and begging. Kyle would never have been employed as a writer if he were not caterwauling about a current hot-button issue. He writes livejournal posts and if this were the late 90s or early 2000s, he'd be posting in magenta on a black sparkly background for his geocities page. There is no srs business Washington D.C. political career. No rich D.C. lawyer or politician is sweeping Kyle off his feet and providing him the life he feels he deserves. Kyle is scraping by in a metropolitan city and I would not be surprised to learn that his parents are helping him. Everyone has family members, people they keep in touch with only on social media, or family of friends who go to the big city and fail to make it. Kyle just decided to do it later than most and abandoned his family to do it.
I expect his experience has been much more degenerate than the one's anyone I know have had.
