Basically it's story of Josefa Llanes Escoda who aided Filipino prisoners and American internees. Notice at 13:15 the only American internee portrayed looks like a porn star from the 70s, his only words are thank you very much. The Japanese soldiers portrayed here only say a few English words like faster.

Holocaust denial and questioning is much larger outside of the west than most people think. Anne Frank's diary isn't seen as a holy scripture, Holocaust history doesn't eat up large segments of history class and there are no Holocaust denial laws.

Not to say that its common, but the Holocaust doesn't have the same legacy and Holocaust denial doesn't carry the same stigma outside of the West as it does within.

Even when they portray the Japanese cold blooded, they also portray some of the Japanese as caring. And they also portray the Japanese as speaking in Engrish.
