I never thought I had a strong stomach, but honestly Kelly doesn’t bother me at all. It surprises me how many people are squeamish at only the descriptions, Yeah she’s gross, but I think she’s mostly fascinating in the classic train wreck kind of way. Also wouldn’t she have to be zonked post amputation with all the meds they’d give her? I find it hard to believe she’s already had them lopped off.

Kelly would not hesitate to tell us all about her amputation struggle, the poor ballet dancer who lost her legs, she would probably start contacting Lifetime for her made-for-tv movie pitch right away.

possible theory: could kelly have gone so quiet and vague in her posts because the amputation has already happened, and she's refusing to be public about it? i say this because:
1. she was posting about her toe just before she went quiet for a long time; could be an old pic
2. her other pics have been of her face (i.e. they could all be old)
3. she's been so vague in the text and sounds devastated about something; could just be the imminent prospect of amputation (or maybe her doctors just finally explicitly confronted her about munching, instead of hedging around it)
4. even though she'd want to attention-seek if the amputation *did* ever happen, i'm sure there there's an equally large (if not larger) part of her that would avoid publicly acknowledging it ever. she'd want to pretend it wasn't real. i mean, with the legs off, the game is up—who cares anymore?
caveat to this theory: surely if they'd taken them off she would've gone straight into psych for a longggg time without a phone. but a girl can hope

You might be right.

As long as she can keep breadcrumbing her audience with vague updates and whining, she can keep people invested for just a little bit longer. She probably thinks once she announces the Amputation, people will lose interest in her and move on. That her value lies in those gory images. When the legs go, the material runs dry and the saga ends. She's dragging out the announcement to buy herself some time to figure out next steps for the differentially_kelly "brand".

Maybe what we're seeing is her on a supervised "phone break" where she's not allowed to take any pics, but she can still stealthily post old material, accessing social media on her own data. Not all psych units are super strict with phone usage. Might be a Canadian thing. (PL: When my family member was in psych, nobody took away his phone, and in a fit of mania he spam called his entire contact list, including employers lol. Shit happens.)

For the longest time I could not understand why Kelly is sooo shocked and devastated about losing her legs. You've been slowly destroying your legs for years. What the fuck else were you expecting? To drag your rotten tendons and drop feet along for the rest of your life? Or for the tissues to just miraculously regenerate, like an axolotl? But it kinda makes sense when you frame it in terms of social media. It's not the loss of her legs that devastates her... its the perceived loss of her audience (and therefore self-worth).

God, I wish I were a fly on the wall for her doctor consultations. How do they even talk to her? Do they acknowledge the self-infliction or do they just talk to her in coded language... "if this progresses, and history has shown it will, etc etc" without ever actually saying it? It's crazy. Regardless, it seems amputation is either very likely (best case scenario) or imminent. I'm curious to know how they plan on keeping her from picking at her amputation wounds. There's no way Kelly will be able to stop herself from doing it eventually.

Anyone who dances, if they have any passion for it, regardless of if it's or fun or they plan to make a career out of it, would not have fucked with their goddamn legs in the way you have. "Plan A" went to shit the minute you decided you need super special attention for your super special rare undiagnosable condition. That was clearly more important to you than "Plan A". I would have zero clue what is considered best policy in Canada specifically, but in most countries there is a point in which treatment is denied, either outright or by making the patient sign one million releases and waivers and putting the patient through an ethics panel and internal audit and...

Also worth considering is the fact that every country has a legally mandated disability table, and surely amputation of one or more legs combined with her existing mental health issues push Kelly into true carded disability and gibs.

Most countries do not like enabling gibs, so they will repeatedly recommend or only allow the most conservative treatment. If it reaches a stage where said most conservative treatment is not feasible, then there is no treatment.

Regardless, it seems amputation is either very likely (best case scenario) or imminent.

Weirdly, we consider the wound picking (excoriation disorder) to be a separate issue from the general crazy, and drug them up until the right combination either alleviates the desire or zonks them out.

The "vCPM" refers to placenta cell implantation btw, and I do not think Kelly is a candidate for such an expensive procedure.

I am informed that way back in the old days, we used to purposely take arm grafts to give an excuse to bandage up a patient's arms so they are unable to use them, but this caused some to pick at the wounds with their teeth.

Oh, the toe is the least of her problems. The amputation will be due to the gaping holes she's managed to pick in her calves and shins, which are, of course, still there (and probably getting worse). I'm not a doctor, but any scenario in which she keeps her legs seems very unlikely right now.

It is possible to debride the chasm and sort of sew it up so that the whole thing is flat (and may or may not stick a drainage tube) and she basically has a dented looking leg and 2 gigantic stitches down either side. I also dont think she can walk. But hey it's not amputation!

Problem is, debridement at that scale is considered a surgical procedure on its own. The Canadian govt will have to weigh up between paying for 2 surgical procedures or just pay for 1.

If you've ever had a skinned knee or something and kept it tightly bandaged with a waterproof bandage, you'd see your skin looking very white and gel-like underneath. It gets sticky too, lift the bandage and you'll see strands of it clinging to the cotton pad. Sorry, for the image but honestly, it's not anything worse than you've seen looking at Kelly's posts.

Sometimes, the descriptions are worse than reality because our imaginations are much more tormenting. It always amazes me how words can have textures and feels associated with them. In this case, "lift the bandage and you will see strands of it clinging to the cotton pad" is making me want to hurl worse than the actual visual.

I feel ya, usually! I'm sorry but "She pulled a nerve out of her leg" is not something that my brain can or wants to imagine. I tread super lightly in this thread because "HOLY SHIT NO!!" comes out of my mouth frequently!

I’ve always heard of maceration in relation to baking (when you coat fruit in sugar and it pulls the juices out)... this mental image will never let me look at baking the same way again.

I can watch surgical shows, autopsy videos, and the goriest horror movies out there with no problem. Kelly's legs and feet have me opening the spoilered images with my fingers splayed across my eyes like a little kid. I think it's a combination of the fact that this is horrifically real, she did it to herself, and she continues to do it while knowing that she's going to lose her feet/legs eventually. Watching someone with dead eyes assist their own rot and show it off for attention is the limit for a lot of people, I think.

Same here, Kelly, the tranny sideshow and the SRS thread somehow affect me in a way that any gore horror can only dream of achieving.
It's gotta be that these people are willing to go through the most horrendous shit that makes me retch when seeing a floater barely would warrant a raised eyebrow.
