The overall designs are certainly an improvement on the earlier attempts at drawing lesbians and butch women. The arms on several of them are disproportionately short, and some of them seem to draw too much inspiration from national stereotypes. Apart from one person being described as doing forensic science, they are all doing stereotypical 'girlie' studies. If they're drawn with two different outfits, shouldn't one be the sports outfit and the other be something appropriate to what they're studying, instead of something that just looks random?

I know people deal with grief in different ways, and it's probably not unreasonable to assume from the information uncovered by the OP that Julien probably didn't have a great relationship with his/her father, but, responding to the death of a relative by going online and begging, really?
I don't know if this is just typical of Julien's entitled and emotionally incontinent generation, but most people would write the name of the person and their dates of birth and death, and some sort of eulogy in this situation. But, in this case. 'Muh gender and muh sexuality and muh cartoons, please give generously.'
Besides that, bereavement and funerals are one of the few situations left when men are broadly expected to take 'traditional' roles like putting on a suit and turning up not covered with glitter and orange cack, having some sort of organizational role and acting strong and supporting his mother or sister. People have been opting out of the woman as nurturer and nosewiper and man as provider and wage slave roles since forever by not marrying or not having kids, but you're stuck with the family you were born into and the 'gender roles' in it.
