Now, I've never bought an alpaca ranch before, but don't you typically look more into a major purchase of property a bit more closely before dumping God knows how much money into it? I'd assume functioning heat, gas, and electricity are one of the first things you would check. Especially when you never get any official paperwork on the inspection so the guy can dip the moment you catch on. Don't get me wrong, if that's true, then the inspector/installer is nothing more than a crook, but you've only yourself to blame for being naive enough to open yourself up to the possibility without a second thought.

The second is just funny. I'm fine with Kevin staying away from any animal and I'm perfectly pleased to hear him leeching off of the other delusional knuckleheads on the ranch like a middle-aged tumor. Speaking personally, the former is just annoying instead of amusing, so that's more of a bother to me than the latter.

It's a bit complicated, you should never trust the seller is being honest and have the place inspected by people you trust, but they are in the middle of nowhere, and lived hours away, if they even know someone they can trust who can inspect everything he'd charge them an entire day of work plus travel expenses. So they probably just went with the guy the seller reccomended.
They could also be extremely naive and figured that since they are paying a ton of money then everything must be in order which is a common belief among normal people.

On the legal side of it, in my experience it's rarely worth it to sue people unless there is a lot of money involved or you have overwhelming and readily available proof you are right, lawyers are very expensive, they'd likely be better off eating the costs than suing.
