Actually, it's more common for cutters to have hypertrophic scars rather than keloids. They're still raised scars, they just don't grow as much as keloids, and after a year or two, they do go down somewhat. And those only form due to how deep the cut is, if they don't attempt to try to close the wound (whether through stitches or butterfly stitches), if they mess with the healing process or it gets infected, what they cut with, and also where on the body they cut themselves. Chest and stomach are the most likely places for hypertrophic and keloid scars to form, but again, depending on how deep the wound is and how the healing process goes, they can form anywhere on the body. Interesting to note is that sub-Saharan people are more likely to form keloids than those of European descent. I used to be a cutter, which is why I know so much about scars.
