Fucks sake. Didn't I say they were just putting all the animals in the shed and shutting the door on them?
A row of wooden boxes along one wall of the shed, filled with sawdust and straw, and if possible with a broom handle perch, would take a couple of hours to knock up with leftover bits of wood and would keep the chooks safe and warm. Might also stop them shitting all over the 'pacas too.
I'm a pen-pusher in an office, I have a few hens in a home-made coop in my garden and before I got them I took the time to learn about what they needed so I could make sure they had it.
I've never seen an egg freeze, and we sometimes only collect ours every couple of days so they are out there in minus lots temperatures for well over 24 hours.
These twats call themselves farmers and they don't even know what the basics are for their hens? Bah. MATI again.
