This is a decent tactic: any further animal deaths are no longer due to their neglect, but in fact PROOF of enemy action. (Maybe they could scam for animal feed to "replace" all the "poisoned" stock.)

Still, "waiting on" implies an outside vet, and that would mean visible paperwork to show, another gap in the story.

The tranch has claimed that local authorities are in league with their enemies. I wonder how long until their online allies decide to righteously take this inarguable proof to the state or federal level, or The Media (that the tranch has been dodging). These poor ladies are under siege and have nobody to help them, and some distant orbiter is going to be too optimistic/not enough ACAB to settle for "don't tell the cops; we just need money."

Honestly, a lot of these Skinwalkers look like fairly standard men prior to taking the one way ride on the Troon Express. And that is scarier to me than if they looked creepy to begin with.

They probably found an animal that died overnight.
There are many reasons that an animal on a ranch with hundreds of them could have died. Even at the best run ranches.
Pennywise is a paranoid idiot though, so his first suspiscion is ofc that the hundreds of fascists that lay in ambush behind every bush have killed it.
