I've only ever backed games from the series "The Banner Saga"
Turns out, not only did the first one come out and gave everything it promised, it was good and popular enough to spawn a sequel without crowdfunding that was even better. The third and final game was put on kickstarter and gained double what it set out for. And with Its creator "Stoic" giving us monthly updates, it's looking good for a release.
There have been so many scandals and daylight robberies on the site though, I can see why nobody would want to put their money towards something that will never come out.

Never backed a kickstarter. Sometimes I've considered it, but I feel that if it's good enough of a product, they won't need my money and I won't have to risk paying for a product that hasn't been made yet. If something as funded as the Coolest Cooler can fuck up money management and giving backers what they were promised, I don't think any kickstarter can be trusted until they fulfill their promises. Which basically means don't back them, wait for others to do that and see what happens.

Necroposting this thread for the sole intent of shilling The Aquabats Kickstarter, of which I have thrown a $900 at.

I pledged to a lot of games a while back when Kickstarter was a newish thing. I learned my lesson and will never get involved in any crowdfunding project again.

Spintires
Fucking sweet game, money well spent.
The Repopulation
Pledged $100. Company went under during alpha. What they had released up to that point was promising. Last I heard, another publisher had bought the assets and said they were going to pick up development, but I don't think it ever got off the ground. Literally would have been better off burning the money.
Shenmue 3
Don't care anymore, it's been too long.

I backed the Marble Hornets dvd Kickstarter. Got everything they promised. Hansen vs Predator I backed as well. Glad that I didn’t give more than 5 dollars on that one

You know, Kickstarter and its ilk have been around for like a decade now, but I've never, ever heard about any significant crackdown against people who make projects and never follow through, but end up walking away with tons of money anyway. How the fuck did all of that happen?

I’ve backed a few books this past year, alternating between one person who raises money to bring obscure books back into print, and various other people who are trying to print their own work. The obscure reprints have been more consistent, with only a couple of duds here and there.

I'd back somebody who starts a new smokeless tobacco or alternative brand that actually is daring with flavors. I get Outlaw now and then but they're all candy flavors. I want manly liquor themed flavors.
