Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Waiting on a response from upstream.
I haven't played but I loved the original game. I never beat it as a kid but man I tried. Kid Icarus is definitely one of the hardest games ever made. Is Uprising as hard? Does it have those annoying eggplant wizards? I hate those guys.

Yes it does but don't worry this games is way easier than the original so the eggplant wizard isn't that bad. Honestly once you get used to the controls the game is pretty easy.
I think games are too easy these days. It fits with me not having a ton of time, but sometimes it's hard to accept you achieved anything if it's handed to you. I mean think about it. In the old days you tried to beat Kid Icarus and if you ran out of lives you started all over. Now you just reload from checkpoint lol. I guess it makes things less frustrating and it appeals to a wider audience, but I don't feel the rush of intensity I do with most modern games I did when I was a kid and trying desperately not to be "punished" by losing.

Though if you it makes you feel better you can up the difficulty from 0 to 9 for each level. And level 9 difficulty I find is extremely hard I haven't been able to beat a level on level 9 difficulty yet.
I liked it a lot. I'm very annoyed Sakurai thinks it doesn't need a sequel, because I would have loved seeing the series progress. It would have benefited a lot more being on console.

Come to think of it I remember Pit being in Smash Bros (whatever the Wii one was called, which I played for about 10 hours and then got bored) and I was thinking there'd be a Wii game. I guess they made a 3ds game instead. I watched a video from the game (Tempura Wizard haha) and agree it does look like it could benefit from a console. But then I have big clumsy hands.
Seriously, he doesn't think there should be a sequel of this? That's a shame. It's one of the first games that really got me into the 3DS. I had quite a lot of fun collecting all the different weapons. Plus the music is pretty good, it adds much to the experience.

The most annoying thing about the game is its controls, 3DS without the circle pad pro really hurts it and almost everyone who played the game at launch got hand cramps really bad because of having to use the stylus the weird way it did. And Pit being in Smash was a retro call back, each Smash adds 1-2 retro characters and Pit proved popular enough to warrant a new Kid Icarus.
The gameplay was great and all bit Kid Icarus Uprising was really fun because of the self aware writing and banter between the cast. I will never get over that Pit's voice actor also plays Metal Gear's Chico...

So true, I laughed so hard playing this, I honestly loved the characters.
Almost forgot one thing to mention. I love Magnus's theme, a lot.

Yes! And don't forget how awesome Dark Pit's theme is too. Actually the whole soundtrack is amazing.
I lost my DS on vacation (left it in the resort room I think) and was so sick to my stomach I never replaced it with a 3ds or anything. I should probably pick one up because there are a lot of good games on it. From the video it almost looked like you use the stylus to aim and the directional pad to move Pit around?
Just get a new 3DS, the built in circle pad pro will replace the stylus aiming and therefore you won't need hand surgery after you play more than two levels in a row. I actually borrowed it from a friend to replay it now that I have a N3DS, but its gonna be a while before I get around to it
Considering @KingofManga420 brought that up right away there must be some truth to it. I'm especially worried after the "hand surgery" part haha.
Slightly off-topic, but while I love my vita I can't play it more than a couple hours without hand cramps. IMHO the PSP was the most comfortable handheld ever made.
I use a grip on my 3DS so it feels like holding a controller, but yeah Kid Icarus's controls were so hand hurting that hilariously Nintendo released a peripheral EXCLUSIVELY to make playing KIU easier, and it looks goofy as hell.
The control scheme was just such a very, very bad idea and to this day Sakurai still defends it and I really hate how he got his hands on the series. I'll save my anti-Sakurai rants for some other Smash topic, but thanks to him we got these controls and he also doesn't think there needs to be a sequel.
(Hades jokes during the credits that he'll be in the sequel when they make it 25 years from now)
I get that it's a hugely polarizing game, but its also a lot of fun. The characters are goofy and lovably and smartly written with many great nostalgia throwbacks, the voice acting is actually pretty good and the gameplay is fun but... 3DS was never, ever where this game belonged. It screams to be ported to Wii U and I pray Nintendo makes a sequel without Sakurai's input since they own the IP.
Ultimately I think it's a game everyone with a 3DS needs to try once and see if its worth the flaws to them.
This game was one of the reasons why I wanted a 3DS in the first place, and it sure didn't disappoint me. The writing in this game was the the best and most hilarious from any game that I have ever played. It was like the fourth wall never existed at all.
The only real complaint I have about this game are the controls. I feel bad for those that are left-handed, but even the controls are meh for righties anyway. They sounded nice on paper, but the execution says otherwise.
And it sucks that Sakurai has no intention of making another sequel. With a game like this, I would LOVE to see another Kid Icarus game in the future, maybe on consoles this time so the controls aren't so meh.
BTW, Hades is one of the best villains ever devised. The guy is literally if Hades from Disney's Hercules was even more of a troll. Plus his character design was the best in the entire game IMO.
