I'm disappointed over the fact that the game flopped and that it never really gave us the medieval experience we wanted. On the other hand, the "racism gamergate" salt was the best part.

I think they're trying to say the RPG elements running in the background are unrealistic and therefore the entire game is historically inaccurate.Saw this going around in some of my circles.

I still do not get the OP's point thou... like its clear they wanna do a "haha gotcha, you hypocrite" kinda thing, but what is the "get"?
They can't believe that body odour could possibly make you more attractive to the opposite sex. Because pheromones are probably a social construct or something.Saw this going around in some of my circles.

It’s sold a cool million in about 2 weeks. So no, it hasn’t by any stretch.Did it flop in sales?
Not unless they were expecting Skyrim or GTA sales. It's already sold a million copies in under 2 weeks.
Yeah, that was what I heard as well. It’s sold a cool million in about 2 weeks. So no, it hasn’t by any stretch.

You need to keep in mind that the game isn’t from a AAA studio and thus has far lower expectations and development overheads, and was kickstarted for most of the development cost. Not doubting this figure, but I am kind of curious how it is derived. I see ~ 500,000 owners on SteamSpy, so another 500,000 on PS4/XBone? Or is SteamSpy not as accurate as I'd like to think?
FWIW, I thought Wokenstein II was considered kind of a flop, but that shows 450,000 owners on SteamSpy. Granted it has been out since October and looks like it went on sale for a bit recently, but KCD hasn't exactly blown it out of the water, at least not yet.
I should've said flop. What I meant was that the game was mediocre. They might fix up the game in tbe near future.Yeah, that was what I heard as well.
I don’t know what @The Great Chandler meant when he stated that it was a flop.

Sorry mang. Tired. Are you incapable of actually writing properly?
Also, I'm loving the people who are buying the game now that the outrage has died down a bit, despite them whining/being salty before about it. It's almost like a decent game stands well on its own merits.

That’s not a controversial statement.
“Historical Accuracy” doesn’t absolve anyone from their OWN CREATIVE CHOICES.
Creating a fake, “all-white” version of medieval Europe is inaccurate, and it overtly serves a white supremacist agenda. It’s not an oversight, it is not neutral, AND IT IS NOT “HISTORICALLY ACCURATE”.
The fight against white supremacist misappropriation and misrepresentation of the European middle ages is happening RIGHT Now, and in the past year I’ve been working more closely with academic medievalists teaching right now (including traveling in person to try and help support professors of color being harassed by white supremacists over this), ameliorating the situation as much as I can, which is why I’ve been a bit more scarce on the tumblr blog. I’ve even started doing a few interviews again.

But I have no plans to stop sharing works from art history that show that any claims of an “all white” medieval past are nothing but bullshit.
The game specifically mentions he was the son of a Haradrim sultan exchanged with the son of a Lord of Gondor as ransom, which is a well-honored tradition both in parts of Europe and in Middle-Earth. So he has a logical reason to be in the position that he is in (children raised as ransom were meant to be raised as if they were the ransom-taker's own child, so he would be raised as a Lord of Gondor). Now, is he Haradrim so that EA can point to him and say "look, we included a black guy, leave us be SJWs!"? Yes, but he's far and away the least annoying NPC in the game (mostly because he only turns up like twice), as opposed to, say, the stupid ninja elf.in shadow of mordor they introduced a black guy , lmao. where's his family & clan. did he just pop up in a Caucasian lore & achieved a high ranking military post. so awkward.
