It's about quantity not quality, easier to gauge whether some feature or aspect is really that bad, or how prevalent specific technical issues are, than from individual reviews.

Best thing about this is highlighting how insignificant game journalism is in the grand scheme of things. 15+ years ago, you needed them to advertise your product, but nowadays, you can just make a Twitter account and release videos on Youtube to drum up interest for your game.
Journalism, on the other hand, has shown that aside over people within their own echo-chamber, they have absolutely no control over public opinions in situations like these.
A game dev made a game not to someone's liking and said someone tries his or her best to fuck with the game dev... and the game still ends up selling a shitton of copies.
On a sidenote, it seems the german gaming magazine "Gamestar" got flak for not joining the chorus of "Vavra is a Nazi", they instead addressed the whole thing level headed and neutral. I used to read that magazine, nice to know they're still doing a good job.
I beg to differ. People tend to look down on video games as irrelevant toys, but when it comes to the economical aspects, you have to accept that they are a massive industry nowadays that generates insane amounts of cash. That is precisely why GG did have a point when it came to journos pushing their agendas and the cronyism that went with it. One can mock them all one likes for being video game spergs sperging over video game journalism, but in the end, said journalism has a clear impact on a multi-billion-dollar industry.

I've remembered several cases of SJWs unleashing their hounds at the gaming industry lately and I'm really glad Vavra never gave in. The primary thing to remember is to NEVER appease the SJWs because you'll only give them a weak point to strike. Imagine if Vavra caved in and put in some kangz in his game, then his attackers would move to whatever bullshit they can come up with and say, claim that the representation of black NPC is racist or something. They can come up with anything to establish their grip - sometimes they're just clowns like Dan Olson bitching about "promoting violence against sex workers" in Hitman because strippers happen to be random mindless NPCs in one level, but let's not forget that GTA V was banned on store shelves in Australia for "violence against women" because women exist as random peds as killable as anyone else.
His views are as standard as it gets in Central Europe. It's just that any white male that doesn't put himself in shackles whipping himself while naked is a Nazi these days. This whole thing is a big culture clash that they don't expect because they assume all white countries are the same.

I know even less about the climate in Europe than in the US but I imagine accusing someone of being a Nazi there is much more serious, as it should be. Maybe it's just the circles I frequent but the internet seems very Americentric, and it's hard to break out of because of algorithms shoving things in my face.

It helps that we were occupied by y'know, actual Nazis. The kind actually belonging to the NDSAP that existed until Germany's defeat in WW2 as opposed to the label that can be tacked on to pretty much anyone and means nothing anymore. Things are very different around here - I remember when people were positively pissed off when people attending the Independence Day were called Nazis by spoiled Westerners, considering the day fully emphasized freedom from both Nazi and Soviet occumpation (one of my university professors was particularly vivid about it - he's pretty woke, a kind of uni professor who wouldn't be allowed in any way in a Western European or an American university).
