During the recent stream, @Null sperged out over his nostalgia for old TF2 and honestly I feel his pain. A decade ago, you could join a Gmod or TF2, say whatever you want, spray whatever you want, have fucking fun. Now, you say nigga, banned, you make fun of a kid, banned, you dare call someone tranny, banned. Free speech is non-existent in these games, and TF2 in particular is a shitshow of tumblrite SJWs who want to have ass sex with medic.

My point being, there is definitely a need for a free speech zone in these games. In this thread, I want to not only petition Null to take a break from his feeder porn and look into this, but to see how much interest in such a server would be. I want to hear from others as well regarding their horror stories in modern gaming.

I agree. Fuck discord. On that topic, discord is actually classified as spyware and can sell your data if they choose, but thus far nitro payments have kept them from doing so. If you have discord, delete it. I’m sure TS or something similar would work fine for gaming.

I think a happy medium would be 2fort, when working with limited resources, its a safe option to go with what everyone likes.

Self-hosting is a really bad idea, dedicated servers are the best option.

I think there definitely is an appetite for classic vanilla tf2, but I feel there could be something added for spice. Nothing major or game changing, just something to break up the repetition.

A big issue with DarkRP is scale. DarkRP servers often have such gigantic maps that even figuring out where to go is a challenge, a map/gps is a necessity. It’s also really difficult to even figure out how to use 90% of the add-ons. A page on the motd acting as a guide could do wonders for newcomers. Finally, and most importantly, donator perks should be done in an intelligent way that doesn’t make the game pay to win or clutter it. You don’t understand how many times I get one shotted by a tranny with a hatsune miku skin because she paid for a god tier class. I’m all for making money, but jesus there has to be a better way than blatant pay to win tactics.

From experience Gmod and TF2 work on just about any computer made within the last 10 years. I believe full heartedly this is why TF2 is full of SJWs. Now with a shit tier laptop, any tumblrite can hop onto a server and cry incessantly about transphobes or equally retarded shit.

If it helps as a barometer I was able to run WoW on my shitbox until a bit into the last expansion. I think I can still run DIII.

This whole mentality plays into the idea that we have to huddle in the dark just to exercise our right to free speech. There should be a place where the mods only exist to regulate the game, not the player interaction. Very very few of these exist. One server I used to play on which had free speech and was quite popular is gone now, so that sucks ass.
