A family member of mine has asthma and got the Coof.
They had the fatigue and loss of smell, and were coughing up a clearish gunk that was like glue mixed with vaseline. There was an increased need for the albuterol inhaler. After most of the symptoms were over, the asthma was way worse. Before Covid this person only needed the inhaler a few times a year if airborne allergens were bad, now it's almost a daily thing. We keep hoping it's temporary and not permanent damage. Time will tell I guess.

I love the fact I can read all this from over the last few months, Its mind blowing that symptoms with exception of the nuked taste and sense of smell are all over the place (local friend got it, those were his core symptoms and fatigue before he beat it). Is this normal for a virus to hit people differently or is it unique to covid?
Yes.
Illnesses affect different bodies differently, even non-illness conditions such as hunger and sleep deprivation can hit different bodies differently.

COVID is a respiratory illness, so most symptoms will come from the fact its assaulting your lungs, others from the immune response itself (swelling certain tissues, fevers, etc.) and others from the energy used to fuel the immune response (fatigue). But how each factor affects individuals vary.
The "it affects different people differently!" is nothing new, especially for a simple RNA virus (shit changes when you start talking DNA viruses & retroviruses).

Grandpa's got it for the second time in the nursing home (confirmed by one test so far, and several tests back in the summer). He's turning 90 this week. He had no symptoms last time, and so far no symptoms this time. He's not in good health so he's the one you'd expect to go down fast, but so far so good.

Clear antibody test on the 12th, exposed on the 14th or 15th (two of my coworkers tested positive) and was sent home to quarantine. I had a scratchy throat for a few days, nothing for a couple more days, then a dry, annoying cough (still have it) and had a fever for one day. Not officially positive, though. I have asthma so I have been taking extra singular along with my inhaler. Also aleve and sudafed, and vitamin c. I can smell and taste but I have no appetite. I'm in Flori-duh so I'll probably die. Hopefully not, though.

Just keep puffing on the haler, any wee boost you can nab is yours for the taking. Funny how in being proscribed such and such, for X aliments, us fecked-already buggers might be at a better chance of boosting past the worst hurdle.

I have definitely been doing that, as well as extra singulair. As of today I feel about 80% normal. Just an occasional cough and I'm pretty tired. I had a nasty headache for a couple of days but it's better now, too.

Sending good thoughts to any of the kiwis still dealing with the coof!

Welp, I officially have the WuFlu. I'll start writing my last will and testament.

Who am I kidding, it's just like the flu. Was exposed on the 19th, had a fever and legs aches for literally a few hours on the 26th, and as of right now the worst things I'm suffering is minor nasal congestion and mucousy coofs. To my credit I've been mostly sleeping and mainlining OJ and chicken soup.

I'm more worried about how the people I live with are going to treat me like I have ebolaids that'll wipe out half the city if I so much as wink salaciously at someone.

Had the swab test this morning after feeling like shit since Sunday. I only have a few of the symptoms but it's put me out of work and the worst fucking headache I have ever had in my life. This thing is still here four days later.

My roommate got exposed. He's a smoker and doing a different cough than usual, otherwise I wouldn't be posting,

Question: how does it affect people with mild asthma?
I have seasonal asthma that kicks up in the winter, and I've had two strains of the virus. Everyone reacts differently, and the strain itself can have varying degrees of problems. For example, the US strain did barely anything to me, while the Eurotrash strain put me on my ass for a week straight, and I still haven't gotten over it. I'm actually having somethin akin to recurrences of it, even six weeks later.

A bunch of my friends and my girlfriend got it a couple of weeks ago, so I was pretty sure I had it too since I hung out with all of them right before they became symptomatic and tested positive. I tested negative but still came down with something a few days later anyway, so it could've been the coof but it was pretty much indistinguishable from the same shitty cold I get every winter. I was tired, congested and had aches in my lower back and right leg for a few days and now just a lingering cough which would be nothing new seasonally. My friends basically had a moderate flu for a week or so and they all have annoying lingering coughs as well while my girlfriend and her best friend who she lives with right now barely ever showed symptoms despite being positive.

Just tested positive on Sunday (1/9) and was feeling sluggish most of last week (1/3-1/9). I took my temperature on Wednesday and no fever was present. I think I was positive since 1/7 based on how a felt.

I have no respiratory nor immune issues but am overweight.

Since I tested positive here are my stats:

1/10 Evening
Temp: 99.4 F
Oxygen: 98
Pulse: 90
Additional: Lost taste and smell. I can't even enjoy my whisky while I am quarantined.

P.S. I took Afrin nasal decongestant and cough syrup.

1/11 Morning
Temp: 100.3
Oxygen: 97
Pulse: 107
Additional: Still no taste and smell. A little tired but I still ran three miles.

1/11 Evening
Temp: 99.7
Oxygen: 97
Pulse: 105
Additional: Still no taste and smell. Still feeling tired. I could probably walk about the block a few time if I wanted to though,

1/12 Morning
Temp: 100.7
Oxygen: 96
Pulse: 78
Additional: Same as before. Did granny jog about 5 miles and had a headache that went away with water.

1/12 Evening
Temp: 99.6
Oxygen: 97
Pulse: 94
ulse: 105
Additional: No changes

1/13 Morning
Temp: 98.8
Oxygen: 97
Pulse: 101
Additional: It seems I have gotten about 45% of my taste back and no longer have a fever.

1/13 Evening
Temp: 99.2
Oxygen: 96
Pulse: 102
Additional: So I can taste food again albeit its mostly fast food due to how sweet or salty they usually are. No fever and I think it may be over the worst of it.

1/14 Morning
Temp: 97.4
Oxygen: 97
Pulse: 99
Additional: Got about 50% of my taste back today.

1/14 Evening
Temp: 99.1
Oxygen: 97
Pulse: 102
Additional: I am actually exercising more when I have / had the COVID due to the time off I have gotten from work,

1/15 Morning
Temp: 96.6
Oxygen: 97
Pulse: 92
Additional: The health department called me and based on my symptoms they think I should be good to inflict my autism upon the world by Saturday.

1/16 Morning
Temp: 97.4
Oxygen: 96
Pulse: 89
Additional: Feeling fine. Unless I experience anymore symptoms I am going to stop posting my stats. Overall for me it was not even as bad a a moderate flu. Just uncomfortable.

Just went in for a post COVID Nasal Antigen Test and am Negative; which means I need to go back to work tomorrow. I was hoping to watch the election festivities from a comfy bed with some whiskey.

Anyone recovered from this thing find that they can't speak well anymore?
A friend of mine is blaming the Coof for his recent aphasia-like behaviors and once he mentioned it I noticed that I do it too, though I was blaming the lack of social interation and being old for mine.
Like, we'll be mid-sentence and the part of the brain that contains our vocabulary just shuts off.

Fuck, so it's true you can catch it twice?
This shouldn't even be physically possible... Wtf...

Any of this "long covid" shit I see spouted out by these doctors and my panicky friends? Incapacitated for months, drained and lacking energy and all that shit?

Best of luck getting over that garbage ASAP.
"Long COVID" should be like 100% of cases where pneumonia developed. I was hospitalized with pneumonia in mid-2019, and could still feel it 6 months later if, for example, I went out in cold weather my lungs would be fucked again for a day or two.

Welp, found out today that someone at my store tested positive. Someone that I sat next to and talked with (masks on, except when I pulled it down to drink water a couple of times) during lunch last time I saw him. I've been feeling off the past couple of days and my temperature is higher than normal. Stoked.
Honestly I'm kinda jelly of people who already caught it. It must be nice to just have it over and done with... I don't want to get it but at the same time I do kinda wish I was one of the people who do have it so I can stop living in fear.

I just want it out of the way so I can stop being concerned. I have a young athletic friend who was hospitalized so I'm not feeling optimistic. It is uncommon but still, it's hard not to draw on personal experiences.

I've had the 'Rona since Saturday Jan 16th and its still persisting. The symptoms are playing round robin, its not happening all at once; there will be hours before I get one of the symptoms flare up and then it will go away again.. I've had vertigo, fever, headache, a very minor cough now and then, no appetite, nausea, diarrhea . It doesn't feel dangerous so far, just enough to make me miserable.
