Oh boy, I got a story for y'all.

Back in October I had a slight cold, came out of nowhere as colds are wont to do. Bit of a fever, somewhat nauseous, had a mild cough at worst. I started feeling it on a Thursday, but after taking some acetaminophen and nyquil for a couple nights, I felt normal by Sunday afternoon, save for the cough. Since I felt like I was over the hump and had my assurances that it wasn't corona, I confided in one of my roommates since he asked why I seemed sluggish lately.

Big mistake. Said roommate told my other roommate, his live-in gf, who promptly went ballistic and made everyone in the apartment get tested for covid immediately.

These two roommates of mine were/are NPCs in every sense of the word: no sense of curiosity, CNN-parroting, "Trust the Science", low-information voter types. They're normies in every sense of the word. I was not able to convince them that this cold I had was simply a cold and not the dreaded Chinese Sneeze.

Those same roommates got the coof at a Halloween party and brought it home with them. I ended up quarantining for half of November because I tested positive. To reiterate, these were the same roommates who flipped their shit over me having a small cold that I kicked in two and a half days, forcing me to wear a mask in the apartment (which I never actually did) until everyone was confirmed to have tested negative, decided that the rules they enforced no longer applied to them. I cannot properly overstate my sense of sheer elation when they moved out in February.

As for my experience regarding the symptoms, I had none. I basically just spent two weeks living off Domino's and a small stockpile of groceries, watching Shinichiro Watanabe shows and catching up on my art, all while making sure I didn't leave my room except to shower, shit and cook, lest my remaining healthy roommate contract the ol' Chinese Sneeze too. Not sure if my lack of symptoms meant I was an asymptomatic carrier, or I simply just built an extremely strong immunity at my job.

That being said, for a couple days prior to receiving my test results, I had shivers and a bit of a runny nose, which I wrote off as being underfed due to not wanting to contract the same symptoms as my already-quarantining roommates. Hard to say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had covid symptoms for a day or two before the virus went dormant.

It took about a year, but the coof found us. I think my grandma cast the pox upon us when she passed tbh (though Mom suspects it was the nurse checking in on her who spread it to us), because within days of her passing, family members who had visited to comfort Papa started coughing. Papa had the cough by the time I visited him that Saturday, and then the following week my parents started looking and sounding like shit and suspected they had caught it.

Turned out to be true, but Mom developed pneumonia as did Papa, so they're currently on oxygen at the hospital, have been since Monday (Papa) and Tuesday night (Mom), and so far are looking good. We're all slowly getting tested, and the two who're coughing and sniffling the most and always bundling up have tested positive, another brother just got tested today but he doesn't really have much of a cough like his twin, but for sure he's infected. We're pretty sure we're all positive. I have a bit of mucus and a cough, maybe a headache that I can ignore, and that's it. Only body part that aches sometimes is my arm because lol I had helped lift a casket, and I don't even know if I have a fever, sometimes the room feels strangely warm but it passes.

And yet I'm telling you, I am not as sick as I was last year, where in February/March, I was the sickest I remember ever being, and then I was sick off-and-on for most of the year until September-ish. I've yet to feel like that again as of this writing, and it's been in the house for at least a week-and-a-half. It's really weird. If I don't crash within the next week, then I'm gonna be convinced this strain wasn't a bad one and some of my family was just unlucky enough to feel like crap.

EDIT: Lol the one twin tested negative. So maybe not all of us are positive after all.
