Knives and other edgy mall-ninja shit - What tactical crap do you waste your money on?

I figured since we have a thread dedicated to talking about gunz, why not have a thread dedicated to those among us who spent years studying The Blade while others were out partying.

Anyway. Do any of you collect knives? Do you have a certain preference? Do you carry them on a regular basis? Any interesting stories to share?

I personally carry an Ontario RAT1 because it's the de facto cheap beater EDC knife people opt for when they don't want to spend the money on a Spyderco or a Benchmade. I have 2 at the moment and will probably pick up a few more next time I'm in the States because they're like $25 on Amazon and they are perfect gifts for male friends.

I have a couple fixed blades too, but they honestly see more time in the kitchen than they do on my belt. I'm thinking about buying a push dagger of some sort.

I was briefly thinking about getting a Spanish 1893 bayonet to mount on my 1895 Chilean Mauser short rifle, but I fear the blade will make it even more unwieldy and unbalanced. I have a few knockoff Swiss Army knives for multitool functions.

I have an Al Mar Eagle Ultralight for work and out and about and a HK by way of Benchmade pocketknife for when I'm doing manual labor

I had a few wall hangers as a kid and teen, they're fun to swing around but not practical for anything. As I got older I sold them off and eventually bought, or was given, some actually useful blades. As for edc, I have a Benchmade folder. It's just a useful little knife to have.

As for anything not utilitarian, I've got a 1917 bayonet and a few throwing knives. The bayonet doesn't see any use (duh), but the throwing knives are still pretty fun to toss around.

When I was a kid they had a ninja knife store in this failing shopping center for about 2 months that had these cool Nazi knives. They were surely Chinese replicas but still.

For some reason I have two knife blocks within my kitchen. And another knife I hide in my random stuff drawer which is more like "Bitch be cray". The handles all busted up and splintering and I could obviously find something else for practical self defense. I just can't see myself tossing it away though.

I carry a Mora Bushcraft when I'm backpacking/hiking/etc and a Gerber Fast Draw most everywhere else. I've lost and re-bought the Gerber three times but it's a great value... the thing opens beautifully for a $25 knife (if you know how to take it out of a pocket just so it opens by itself).

Occasionally will tote a kalashnikov switchblade on my non-dominant side if I'm at work. Tried a Smith and Wesson one but it broke pretty fast... the kalashnikov seems to be holding up well although I'm not a huge fan of the release mechanism (not very ambidextrous)

I keep a Buck 110 on my belt and I take a KA-Bar with me when I go hunting. I still have some of my inventory from when I was selling knives if you want a decent cheap folder or a SOG fasthawk.

I haven't taken a family pic in awhile, but these are the ones I use.

Also got a SOG Trident with a broken tip, a Buck Bantam that's currently rusting in the bottom of my tackle bag, a Mora Companion I got for Christmas, some shitty Winchester Bowie, and like 4 Leathermans.

I was late to a plane today and got my RAT1 confiscated because I was forced to take my checked baggage as carry-on.

Shit's gay, but they said I could get it back after my return flight. They gave me an official document about the confiscation and whatnot.

We'll see. I might have to replace it... :(

I'll snap some when I get home, I don't much collect knives, I have a few cool ones though that I'll list

My EDC is a Spyderco harpy g10. I've had since I was a teen and haven't fixed broken tip in a few years because lol.

A Fairbaine applegate folder

USAF survival knife that survived my house burning down

Lastly, a Real Gerber MK2 I got as a gift for my advanced SCUBA cert it's really quite handy.

Some other random and not cool shit like some buck folders etc.

I just keep this small black pocket knife just for whatever I need. Mostly I just use it to open packages.

I've been thinking about buying a sling pack just because it's smaller and easier to lug around than a backpack, and more sturdy than a lot of small rucksacks I've seen. The tactical ones seem to be the best built sling packs though.

I've been thinking about trying to find a plain edge Spyderco Civilian if that's even a thing they made at some point. Maybe a Chink knockoff because I don't need a $200 knife that is unusable for daily tasks...

I really want one of those Gerber Applegate folders. It just looks neat.

I got this as a gift from my grandfather last year; he got it from his uncle, who apparently got it from a friend of his who was a Ranger. Can't carry it around anywhere though thanks to the fear of anything remotely weapon-like in the UK.

That's an M3 - there's currently one in my grandmothers basement as well, courtesy of the former owner (who was also a ranger). It's one of the more common WW2 surplus knives I guess, with almost 3 million produced, and also the shortest lived fighting knife design in US service.

I'm looking to get a decent EDC knife; only problem is, it's got to be one that complies with UK knife laws (folding blade, no more than 3 inches long.) Any recommendations?

A Tuff Lite or a Mini Tuff Lite would be your best bet I'm guessing.

Blade length two inches.

Blade length is two and a half.

The mini feels like you're holding a razorblade with a nice little handle added. It's a decent little knife, I had one up till I broke the tip of it trying to wedge something open.

If you're going to get one I'd recommend ordering from Amazon and not through Cold Steel. Nothing against the guys, but you'll find it cheaper on Amazon.
