I did a lil bit research here & there to find why bts is so pop. Unlike your usual rockstars who glamourize drugs, depression, self harm, anarchy, suicide & other self destructive shit, bts make songs about mental health, bullying from positive outlook. They also do shit like "study with us" sessions

BTS came from a small company, they started with nothing. Jin who was casted just because of his looks, Suga who left his family and gambled his education just to do what he really wanted to be, Namjoon who was never have been supported by his parents, Jimin who thought himself as ugly and fat, Taehyung whose always been part of BTS but was never shown in any promotions- not until they debut, Hoseok who seemed to always laugh but never felt as an accomplishment to his father, And Jungkook who was very shy and have saved his parents at a young age by auditioning to companies. Remember the days when they were struggling? They even have to sacrifice and work hard just so they could eat? They were squeezing themselves into one small apartment and have to take responsibilities- the reason why they wrote the song 'Move'. Those times when Jimin has to starve himself just because people calls him fat and ugly. That one interview where Yoongi said that; it was nice that people listens to their music because Taehyung and Jungkook are good looking. And he thought that it was at least enough. Do you remember when Hoseok was supposed to be the vocalist and Taehyung is the rapper, but he chose to rap instead and learn it because Taehyung wants to be a Vocalist. It was Taehyung's dream and Hoseok loves his dongsaeng that much he would sacrifice. Other fan base were accusing them for plagiarism just because they had the smallest detail whose the same with other big K-pop group which is actually just a coincidence. There was a time when Yoongi packed 300 gifts and letters just to give to their 300 fans who will attend at their mini fan meetings. So why do people judge them so quickly? Did you know that Jimin came all the way to Seoul from Busan just to persuade his dreams? Did you know that Taehyung lived with his grandma gor almost half of his life making him innocent from what else is out there in our world? Did you know that Jungkook set aside his embarrassment just to meet the others expectations? Yes, he is the golden maknae, but he suffers too when he see his hyungs having a hard time, he cries. And there was a time when Jimin caught him crying and the reason is because he misses his family. Jungkook often cry secretly so that his hyungs wouldn't worry. Did you know that Jin auditioned to make his mother proud of him and so that his mom would have something to brag off to those judgmental neighbors they have. He worked hard on his vocals yet people called him talentless. Did you know that Namjoon worked hard just to produce songs yet there was a time when his mom ruined his computer and broke his mike so he could focus on studying? Did you know that Hoseok auditioned because he wanted his father to be proud of him? Because he felt like he was a disappointment? Those rookie days where they only listen to the awardings and be amazed by their seniors. They can't do anything but to watch those idols who receives the awards. The days when they were happy with just 300 views on YouTube, mini fangatherings, small numbers of followers, and one Daesang award. They were contented. And now they've reached to the top and became more successful. From 150 fans to 16M and counting, From a small practice room to a bigger one, From cramped dorm with roommates to big dorm with each of them having a room, From one daesang award to more awards and they've even won on BBMAs. BTS never expected this before their fourth year anniversary, they've come so far- so far that the only chance we have to see them is to go to their concertor (NEVER) meet them along the street with 0.01% chance. But really ARMYs! We've came this far fam, let's love them and give them our support till the end! I wanted to thank y'all. I love you fam! I love BTS. Let's stay together until the end. If you believe in what I've said. If you believe in 1! 2! 3! A true ARMY shall spread

Jennie - Blackpink

The 25-year-old Blackpink star was recently the target of a US$30,000 billboard ad set up by Filipino social media influencer, Christian Albert Gaza, who is a self-proclaimed No 1 Jennie fan. Placed near the YG Entertainment building in Seoul, the ad reads, “Kim Jennie Ruby Jane, you are my ultimate crush. Can I take you out to dinner and make me the happiest man alive?” in both Korean and English.

Nayeon - Twice

If you’re a Twice fan, you may be familiar with the Twitter handle @Josh1994. The German sasaeng fan has been known to have stalked and harassed member Nayeon since the end of 2019. The agency representing Twice, JYP Entertainment, filed a lawsuit against him after he repeatedly went to the headquarters of the agency and published Twice member Chaeyoung’s phone number, according to Kbizoom. But the ban on the diehard fan was lifted in March 2020, with JYP announcing that it would tighten security around the member, reports Kbizoom.

Despite the measures taken to protect the 26-year-old singer, @Josh1994 has been persistent; he recently posted a video saying he’s waiting for his Covid-19 test results so that he can visit Korea and see Nayeon again. As a result, fans have since been trying to get JYP Entertainment’s attention through emails, urging them to protect Nayeon’s safety.

Jeno - NCT

K-pop idols are no stranger to phone calls from obsessive fans – especially NCT Dream member Jeno. Early in 2020, NCT Dream members Renjun, Jeno and Chenle held a casual live broadcast, interacting with fans and talking among themselves. However, throughout the whole broadcast, 21-year-old Jeno’s phone rang more than 20 times with sasaeng calls, causing Renjun to pick up and tell the fan to stop calling and harassing Jeno.

Ateez

Just last month, Ateez became a victim of sasaeng fans when the members discovered tracking devices attached to their business vehicles. The group’s agency, KQ Entertainment, released a statement notifying fans about the incident, promising legal action.

EXO

Sasaengs rented out a van identical to EXO's van and parked it in front as they came out from a schedule. They almost entered the van but their manager noticed something was off and stopped them.

Wanna One

After MAMA 2018, a flight from Hong Kong to Seoul was forced to deplane all its passengers due to Wanna One sasaengs who had boarded only to see the group. After they'd rushed the boys at their seats, the people insisted on leaving the plane and getting a refund, although it meant everyone would have to get off and re-board.

TVXQ!

TVXQ! were victims of sasaeng behaviour on too many occasions to count. Sasaengs did everything from making a copy of the key to the idol group's apartment, breaking in and kissing the members while they slept, to freezing their phone account and going through the call history to look for any girls' numbers, tapping their phones, causing car accidents and even bodily harm to members - including throwing rocks at Changmin.

I remember that josh guy. Funny thing is he's not even a fan of Twice. He just has this weird obsession with Nayeon.

For anyone wondering "why do they do all this, they can't possibly think this'll endear them to their idols?" The kicker is they don't. Most of them are so far gone that they don't actually care about their idols liking them very much. It's about being remembered by the idol and making an impression, more than what a typical fan would get. Even if that impression is "eww it's that fucking stalker again". The whole 'any attention is better than no attention' adage.

Sasaeng are usually female, starting as young as 13 to about 22, and they have made it their life's goal to make sure they are noticed by their idols, by hook or by crook.

Top K-wave stars targeted include male groups and stars like JYJ, TVXQ, B2ST, Jang Geun Suk, Big Bang, Super Junior, SHINee and SS501′s Kim Hyun Joong.

Korean managers speaking to Korean media have revealed that popular stars have between 500 to 1,000 sasaeng fans. On any given day, the stars have at least 100 full-time stalkers on their heels.

An ex-idol manager told Korean news entertainment site Newsen that stars have woken up and opened their doors in the morning to find urine and faeces on the floor.

"It's as if they are marking their territory," he said.

He admitted that he has had to hit a sasaeng for the security of his charges.

"After the schedules are finished, hundreds of fans swarm in. One member even used to get pulled around by the hair. I had no choice but to use violence," he said, adding that even the use of insecticide spray does not deter them.

"Fans actually feel proud of it. I've seen some say 'I was hit by our oppa's manager.' Sasaeng fans think that violence and verbal assaults are a way of getting closer to their favourite idol," he told Newsen.

According to Korean online news site OhMyNews, the lucrative sasaeng industry has prompted the opening of companies specialising in helping sasaeng stalk their stars when they are physically unable to.

"Sasaeng fans are stalkers. They're not normal, they've mentioned killing someone, and even themselves. Some even ask us to find out what color clothes their idols wear to bed," revealed one such company employee.

According to him, one sasaeng even offered to fork out $100,000 USD if the company could steal her idol's underwear.
