Best bet? Let them break off from the USA. Leave an open channel for the millions that want out, and help them resettle in other parts of the country as long as they leave their california programing behind and then leave the rest who wanna stay in cali stay there. My guess until proven otherwise is a fire unrelated to oil production broke out at a facility which utilized several closed loop extraction systems and...well...that's a lot of butane next to a fire.

Closed loop systems are remarkably safe and efficient these days, but they still involve big ol' tanks of butane.

Based off this article from a few days ago (archive), they're still investigating the cause. Though, as the article mentions, the parties who owned the businesses and building have been charged with over 300 misdemeanor counts for illegally storing hazardous materials, failure to properly store them, lack of proper safety practices, etc.

Also, apparently only 2 of the 11 firefighters injured in the blast have returned to work.

Chiming in to say I lived very close to that area a few years ago. That isn't the first time a building in that area went up in fucking flames. Last time it was a spice warehouse. It always happens during summer, too. Weird.
