Most of the ex-sjws I have talked to have said leaving the movement was like the scales falling off their eyes - one incident made them think "wait, are you guys for real?"

It seems like a lot of them tend to leave when they start getting attacked by another faction. If you're a lesbian feminist who's under massive heat from a bunch of bearded trannies calling you a bigot for not being willing to play with their girldicks, you have to start looking at your rhetoric a little more closely and decide where your line actually is. Being open minded is a good thing, but legally enforcing "social justice" is just another type of horror show. You should be able free to be a hideous overweight genderless blob if you want, but then I should still be free to be an asshole about it.

Also, perhaps now that she is in more of a serious relationship, she is pondering having children...and that can lead to thoughts of, "Is what I believe what I want to pass on to the next generation?"

It's a lot harder to keep a hardcore progressive mentality when you throw children into the mix. Most of the real insanity comes from college campus, where everyone lives in a bubble made of nothing but adults. You can even kind of see where the mentality is coming from, as there's this withered little root of a good point under most of it. Interesting you bring up college campuses...while we're briefly touching on the topic of diversity, it would be promoting the definition of the term for universities get the ball rolling by including some diverse voices in their faculties which do not follow the drum beat of authoritarian progressivism. But no, that's not what the movement is interested in. That may be where Laci initially became lead astray, but now she has at least been consentually offered the red pill and is reaching for the water to wash it down.

I think it comes down to actual interaction with people with whom you don't agree politically but whose company you enjoy nonetheless. If you live your life on the internet, it's easy to cloister yourself inside a hive, but in the real world, it's much harder to treat everybody who isn't exactly like you as a nazi, and if you do, you're likely the person who everybody, including those who'd agree with you politically, hates.

I also think it's the difference between having friends and having allies. When it comes to friends (or more than friends in the case of Laci and Chris), you care about them as individuals and make efforts to understand them since you don't want to lose them, but when it comes to allies (as SJW crowds saw Laci), you only care about how they can benefit you and will replace them at a moment's notice without losing sleep.

This may be cynical, but I suspect she has just assessed that stock in SJW has already hit its peak and is no longer a sound investment. This would fit well within her previous moves.

For examples, if you look at the stock performance of gamergate, you'll see that it had a rapid rise followed by a significant reduction in value punctuated by volatility:

Well, after 25 your brain develops fully. It really is something like one day you wake up and realize youve sort of slowly passively spent the last year fully becoming an adult and one day you really do just "grow up". You leave radicalism behind and are much more willing to be an adult about things and see both sides of things. You cant save the world. Things change but the more they change, the more they stay the same. You have to have good and bad, you cant have one without the other. You do need stability.

It really does just boil down to that old saying "If you arent progressive when youre young, youre heartless. If you arent (a little bit) conservative when youre old, youre foolish." Something like that. Like, it's a thing most people go through, is what it's getting at. You dont have to be completely one or the other, but if you are, it's not that sound.

I've seen it happen a little bit. Some of the people I went to high school with who were heavy into SJWdom (Though it was far less prominent than) and other alternative lifestyles in the late 2000's are now turning into hardcore Evangelical Christian types.
