That's the real irony of the wokefolk arguing that people that are legitimate "classical liberals" are "ackshually far-right conservatives!" - any substantial deviation from previous political positions makes the antecedent positions "conservative". That post is a lot of source material that I want to go through in depth, but honestly, over years I haven't heard them have issues with anyone's orientation or presentation. They get upset at males saying they're women especially, less upset but far from affirming about females saying they're men. I think both them and their detractors like r/gendercynical are caught in an ideological loop here. If ANYONE uses the can and swiftly leaves, it's 99 percent not an issue as most people do in fact do that. If anyone's hanging around the can, people will notice them more. If they're the opposite sex, usually that'll be noticed even more. I mean, the solution for everyone obviously would be to observe universal can etiquette and leave. That said, common sense is difficult to legislate, so you get ppl like Yaniv who are obviously hard to legislate against.

I disagree. True some of her targets call themselves GC but it's actually just part of a package of bigotry (like the aforementionned Caroline Farrow) but it's far too small a sample to tar all of tervery with the bigot label.

Get a real job. Learn to repair airconditioners or lay tile or something. Waxing vaginas part-time from your house is about as respectable as selling avon, and if a man did it he'd be considered a laughingstock and a failure. Demanding equality means giving up the ability to live like a useless womanchild and have society expect no better from you.

"Radical" is a term from the 1950's and 60's differentiating first-wave feminism that focused solely on civil rights from second-wave feminism that aimed to radically redefine femininity. It has nothing to do with trannies.

This is what I don't understand about radical feminism. The fight is over in Western society and we have equality (in some cases, such as the draft, we have the advantage. We get the benefits without the responsibility) The framework is there and it's up to us to make it work, but this new wave of feminism seems to be about draconian social engineering and insidious almost-emasculation. Oh, and that wearing a black tablecloth is the ultimate in female freedom (I will never understand that particular alliance from hell.)

You're resisting a lot of it down in Oz; you've retained a type of stoicism and refusal of arsebaggery that makes life a lot simpler in the workplace. I worked for an Australian company and in many ways it would be considered disgustingly sexist but in actuality it was by far the fairest; the general consensus assumes and expects you will fight your own battles and not go squealing to teacher about the nasty boys using rude words, reeeeeee.

It's probably because the landscape and everything in it is trying to kill you - being attacked by rabid grass and knowing every insect everywhere is a small, evil blob of painful death must concentrate the mind. And that's without even taking the drop-bears into consideration.

As for me, I shall take your esteemed advice and branch out. I'm going to become a hooker. A series of £5 knee-tremblers is infinitely more palatable than waxing Yaniv's cheesy scrotum.

We had a TV show a few years back where they set up an iron age village - it had been done in the 70's and this was the reboot, the idea being they'd live as a tribe for a year. The 70's mob had set up a traditional hierarchy with a strong male chief elected and they lasted the whole year.

So the BBC gather together the usual mottley bunch attracted to the theory of living outside 20thC mores. They were all very wholesome and earnest, there was even a druid in there (twat!) And the first thing this bunch of soggy lettuces do is elect a female chief, because this time round they we're going to create an equal commune of love, flowers and mutual respect. None of that patriarchal shit. Did they elect her because she had shown organisational skills or relevant knowledge? Well....no. But she had made up a song, so that was nice.

By Day 3 they have no food left and have no idea how to get more. There's no regular water and everyone's freezing. The students have turned one tent into bong central and are doing nothing except getting blasted and shagging. So they call a big meeting heavy on the respect and mimsying where their chief explains she "doesn't like to tell people what to do." But they all agree about the communal love, respect and community feeling. Man. Not a lot is resolved but they're sure it'll all work out; they're feeling good and connected now with renewed purpose. But no plans.

Two weeks later they've all got food poisoning - they were given a dead sheep or something to start them off and they continued eating it after it went bad (even tho the Druid blessed it by playing his magic pipes over it. Then turned it into an inedible stew) because nobody sorted anything else. No latrines have been dug or water rota set. No sandals have been knitted, no peace beads made. Nobody is singing the song any more. They're all hunched in bitchy little groups, blaming each other and backstabbing their chief, and if that fucking druid plays those fucking pipes one more time...

Then they all got cholera and the H&S shut the whole thing down. Clanger fell off the sofa laughing.


Turns out maybe we do need annoying, shouty, dominant men. The civilisation and patriarchy they eschewed so vehemently is the basis giving them the luxury to opt out...and opt back in when it all goes tits-up.

There is more to the Posey Parker thing though, namely that she had an old YouTube account with some pretty cruel homophobic memes she had made. It's not like people just started calling her homophobic out of nowhere. They did have a specific reason behind it beyond a general dislike of her overall politics. So faced with this obvious evidence a lot of lesbian GCers were pissed off that the straight GCers didn't seem to care and in fact defended her.

Edit @SourDiesel I'm not saying a woman couldn't have done it (I said they didn't elect the female chief for her leadership skills) but the mimsy communal approach only works if there is a safety net. Either way, the project relied on somebody taking the traditional male leadership role and not giving a fuck whether they were liked, or whether meetings ended in a group hug. Civilisations are built on the ultra-dominant few, and the attributes are more traditionally male.
