You made the horrible mistake of reminding a special snowflake that she might not actually have had the worst hand in the world dealt to her, and robbed her of her precious "BIGGEST VICTIM EVAR" statusLike it or not, lesbians don't face even 10% of the backlash and stigma that gay men do. Gays are seen as being weak or compromised, feminised men and that goes for bisexual men too, which is why I (kinda flippantly, kinda not) said they're just homos that won't commit. The social ostracism for being a lesbian is way lower, so the barrier to experimenting is lower. Chicks experimenting or being bisexual is seen as exotic and hot but if a teenage boy blows his best mate, they're both likely to get bullied out of existance for it.
There's a lesbian in our book club who won't shut up about how hard it is being a woman, and how just being female made her the most oppressed. I asked her if she'd ever had to hide the fact that she was a woman to keep a job or a friendship, and she didn't speak to me for months.
