i finished bts. i enjoyed it. im glad i never saw any trailers nor looked up much about it, thus remaining pretty spoiler free. made the game far more interesting, even if i already knew the outcomes of what's to come with the first game.

The dialogue is terrible and it really is tumblr the game, completely and utterly, and it's impossible to sympathize with the characters... but it has good ideas and the story stays fairly interesting. The time travel mechanic is pretty decent.

is BTS worth playing if I enjoyed LiS? The last episode of LiS being a rushed disconnected cop-out that dumped whatever original ending they were working towards (something to do with Nathan and his family and Nathan having powers) really knocked the wind out of the sails for the story for me honestly.

I enjoyed it, so why not? I mean, I'd wait for a sale because it's pretty overpriced as is

What do I think? It's an overrated piece of shit game, with that same bullshit line of "Choices matter" when in fact it comes down to just one choice at the very end. The main characters are horrible people who I want to burn at the stake, and the gameplay itself is rather boring.

The rewind mechanic is an interesting one, and is really the only notable part of the game... Other than that? I would easily recommend ANY other adventure game over it, mainly the Telltale series like Sam and Max, Tales of Monkey Island, The Walking Dead (Really not a fan of the zombie genre anymore, but Telltale did a good job on the first season. The second and third seasons weren't too bad either), and that new Batman series (This one is actually really good. The way the stories are told and with how different some of the characters are from the comic books and movies? It really keeps you on your toes)

TL;DR : Below average at best.

Got full game on Steam for five bucks out of curiosity and the fact that there were no new Telltale games out.

1) Yep, it's life is Tumblr. Corny dialogue in many, many places.
2) Complete lib outlook that annoyed the crap out of me.
3) I've never seen so many hipsters in one video game.

That being said, at least the story went somewhere in the end, and I was curious as how it would turn out. Was better than Firewatch (which isn't saying much).

Nevertheless, nowhere near the top of any of my "games lists." and have no desire to play any other Life is Strange games. If you're looking for "modern teens+supernatural game," go for Oxenfree. That one was actually pretty good for what it was.

I enjoyed Oxenfree.

I got the looping ending which was pretty dope on my first playthrough.

Also, I think Divine knew he struggled writing women in the original Life is Strange and has now swapped it out for two boys to make his job a bit easier.

So yeah, I think I'll give it a go. I enjoyed the original (as I said in the thread earlier) because I played both ends when options came up and it brought about a far richer story until the rather rushed EP5. With that you could feel the plot had been gutted due to time constraints which is a shame.

I played all of 10 minutes of the first episode and was completely bored. I couldn't sympathize with the protagonist at all and her environment was so cheesy and hipsterish it turned me off.

Then I saw E;R's video and found it didn't get any better.

They ended up fucking up so bad in a way even Telltale didn't fuck up: For example in the first Telltale Batman game they more than one choice that had consequences later on and some the choice carry over to the second one, Life is Tumblr has only one choice that matter and i'll be shocked if anything carry over

In retrospect, Before the Storm was fucking awful, especially since it barely expanded on any other important plot points from the first game (Rachel messing around with Frank and Jefferson, Nathan becoming Jefferson’s protégé, etc.) and introduced a bunch of plot threads that literally nobody mentions in the first (Rachel’s real mom, Damon, James Amber, Eliot).
I loved Captain Spirit and 2 is pretty good so far though.

Captain Spirit is the best one IMO. It benefitted from being constrained to one locale and having only a few characters, opting to let the environment do most of the exposition. It's also the least tumblr one in the series, daddy issues aside.
