I have heard about the first one, and I'm watching someone play the second one, and holy fuck, the message is heavy handed and the game feels pretentious
Well i'm not surprised since it's the same developper that made Remember Me and Vampyr and had a high ranked employee in 2016 say that crap like Life is Strange is part of "the dna" of the company and they now made exclusively shit like that and they look like fat old soyboysI have heard about the first one, and I'm watching someone play the second one, and holy fuck, the message is heavy handed and the game feels pretentious
That's Dontnod in a nutshell. One of the writers got pissed at BroTeam after he made fun of the writing of the first two episodes of Life is Strange. Rumors say that they doubled-down on the clichés for the rest of the first season just to "own" Brote.the game feels pretentious
So will this season end with them in Mexico paying for the wall?
And it looks likes the choices in Captain Spirit amounted to one episode, and a kid who's dad is still a drunk who will emotionally abuse his autistic son after the Mexican kids left. Life Is Sad.

The first one and spin-off (albeit made by a different company) were pretty legit, albeit messy. I hope the new one gets back on track, there were rumblings Square took the rights away from the original developers Dontnod and gave them to the company that did the prequel, which I wouldn't mind. The writing was a tad worse but structurally it was better than 2 was several times over. They've found their niche and it also brings good ally points.
Apparently the second game tanking didn't effect the life of the series, new installment being announced.

I heard about the dog stuff in the second one and just why....this shit is depressing.
Stupid stupid stupid they got the troon stuff already lolBecause you needed a ham-fisted plot device to bring on the sads. )':

Tell Me Why was DONTNOD, and it was mostly better in that the preaching was less over-the-top than LiS2, which was an oppression wankfest. The overall structure and gameplay segments were weaker than other games and a whole lot less intersting. LiS2 episode 2 was awful but by the end of the game a lot more substantive events had happened.I don't know which of them did Tell Me Why but that was fairly decent despite the tranny bullshit.
2 had a lot of good shit, particularly hammering home the "choices matter" effecting the endings substantially. It was just one hell of a slog to get through, and none of the endings were good enough to justify how incredibly boring the majority of the experience was.I may be in the minority here but I actually thought the second game was marginally better. The main characters were a lot more likable at least. Daniel gets to be an annoying little shit towards the end, but he’s a little kid so it’s more understandable than Chloe from the first one.
