The empathy power seem interesting. That Deck Nine are behind it make me hopeful that it'll be good-bad like LIS1/BTS and not bad-bad like LIS2/Tell Me Why.

Well, as a legit fan of this series (lis 2 was horrible). I’m glad that it seems to be in the care of people who actually know the cores of the series: person with powers, small town, mystery. Dontnod 100% lost the plot in thinking what people like about the)s series and 2 was proof of it. Thank God, square owns the ip.

Agreed. Small scale in general seems better, since LiS 1 fell apart when they tried to have a grand finale for the entire thing and Max's power and it just kind of landed on its face. These games are about grounded melodrama first and foremost and work much better when that's focused on.
Plus D&D Dyke is back and she was a fun character.
To be fair, this is sort of Sonys fault due to the fact that the PS5 is fully back compatible but they'll still advertise stuff as PS4 rather than give it an FPS/resolution boost and sticking an "enhanced for Series S/X" sticker on it like MS does.
The new game looks interesting and hopefully it'll be much better than whatever the fuck LiS 2 was supposed to be.

The entire issue of the 2 can be sum up as look at these horrible things that the characters are going through! Isn't that just horrible? Racism bad, homelessness bad, justice system bad. And of course there’s nothing insightful about it, but rather its just misery porn for the sake of it. When they killed the cute puppy, I pretty much officially wrote the game off as trash.

I’m trying my best not to sound snide, but is this actually a game or an arty QTE? The trailer and presentation seemed like it was made by people trying to hide the fact that they are working on a video game.

I dunno how you all missed a literal bisexual flag on the cover and a tumblr haircut... Don't expect any kind of subtlety from dontnod, the transgender game literally had a FAQ page telling how the trans won't be hurt or deadnamed (which was a lie btw), so make no mistake, they're way too deep into the woke shit to care about writing because sensitivity readers might get triggered.
For the first game that actually worked because you're playing as an introverted hipster girl who has to learn to care about other people. Or she can become a bitch like her best friend.
But since tumblr doesn't care about playing games, only posting gifs, dontnod now cares more about the number of diversity checkpoints they can shoehorn into the story, not trying to make their games more interactive.
you go around and talk to NPCs and sometimes solve minimum effort puzzles and look for collectibles. The choices usually only affect the relationship status with some characters but the story will always be the same.
