Limited State Youtube Videos -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Waiting on a response from upstream.

Since Youtube has finally gone underway with their limited state program, in which videos are closed off from having views, likes and dislikes, related recommendations and even a comment section, I decided to make a thread dedicated to the collection of them.

The whole purpose of the limited state concept is to censor the shit out of "controversial" videos. This is basically a glorified way of putting a video in private with every feature shut off so no one can find it, except by literally typing its name in a search. Ironically, limited state videos still work with embeds, incentivizing people into posting it on other websites, just like this very one. I'll start with the most recent controversial video I know of.

Be aware that the limited state is absolutely a censorship program and does not simply apply to one umbrella of thought, such as the alt-right, but rather it is a glorified club that will be used by all sides to bludgeon their perceived others out of existence. Everyone from the people you hate to the people you like to the people you're indifferent to is going to be silenced in this manner.

tbh they're kind of shooting themselves in the foot by making martyrs out of these scumbags
let people dislike the vids lol

It also adds a layer of mystique to the videos themselves, rather than let them fall of their own shortcomings, they're hidden from plain sight like a parent trying to cover your eyes during an episode of the X-Files.

Why do I get the feeling that after this has become normalized, a lot of regular people will begin to find their regular nothing videos pushed into the black hole without any explanation?

And the queue for manual review will be 6+ months (never) for non-monetized users. They already have that much of a backlog for new monetization applications. And if you did make it and they rescind it, there's another bunch of hurdles and queues.

What I'm saying is they are doing their best to close the door, without announcing the door has been closed.
