Linux users on /g/ - Technology -

Could the majority of them be counted as spergs? I mean, look at it: they freak out over any sign of criticism, don't actually give people help when any build of it shits itself for unknown reasons, their main communication with the head devs is a mailing list where they mob against anyone who wants to give honest criticism or advice, and from looking at /g/ for months, they tell people the only way to be a real computer owner is to spend thousands on overoverpowered hardware, ridiculous amounts of monitors, anime figurines, use shitty generic or anime wallpapers, and use the command line for everything in a day and age where a GUI gets it done faster. Oh, and to bow down to Richard Stallman, the king of eating things off his feet while giving lectures.

Linus Torvalds may be awesome, but his userbase is just borderline A-Loggian. Every other OS sticks to a small amount of builds, and they believe 300+ isn't cutting it yet.

I use linux. Ubuntu on my laptop, Mint on my desktop. We're not as spergy as you think.

A free and open OS suite that can be installed on any hardware configuration at no cost to the manufacturer is a fundamentally good idea for the future of mankind given the importance of computers. I don't personally use Linux, but if I ever got into software development I would absolutely support it.

I don't really use it for the freetard philosophy, I use it because I prefer the POSIX environment, package manager, and development tools. I also like having an obnoxious level of control over my system...that's why everything is done through the terminal (I doubt many windows users would know what a "CPU governor" is or which "I/O Scheduler" nets them best performance). Same reason I usually install custom Android ROMs on my phone; I'm a nerd and I want to tweak everything. However, I grow just as frustrated as you would when I download a linux distro and something like Flash player or wireless drivers are excluded because "lol nonfree tainted kernel". That's just something that tagged along (and propelled) Linux adoption, thanks in part to the FSF.

Sort of a negative thing to say to a person who probably isn't a pushy neckbeard. As an aspiring Pen-Tester I constantly use linux for networking and my home media server, and I use a Windows machine for my video games. Simple as that. No need for hostility here.
