many lolcows or internet famous people i followed over the years are either getting old or have died. i feel like there has not been a lolcow of the same magnitude as say chris chan or DPS for some time now. alot of them crash and burn before they can turn into a unholy mess or simply leave the internet forever. do you think people have become more self-aware of the concept as lolcows and wont sperg out on the internet as hard or, is the internet so controlled they can no longer be born and grow proper anymore?

They generally get involved in some demented sphere of the internet and become some boring cookie cutter of a politicow, furry, tranny, etc. I think they're still around, but they just get sucked into something else and then don't stand out from the crowd.

It feels like the rise of Discord and Telegram have made it easier for the exceptionals to go undetected, for sure. It was a lot easier to pick up and monitor particular individuals when the main mode of internet posting was BBS-style forums.

I'm also going to second the notion that lolcows have become a lot more common if anything and a lolcow on the level of Chris, DSP, ADF, or even David Gonterman would have to really stand out above the rest.

Jace Connors came close, but that's mainly because the whole thing was faked well in advance, and Jan Ranowski is a good enough actor to make it believable.

A lot of the old Web 1.0 lolcows like David Gonterman, Jack Chick, or Spax3 seem fairly tame by today's standards, or even by 2010 standards. Chris was the first really big lolcow sensation of the Web 2.0 era and he got discovered largely by random chance.

Tellingly, the most recent lolcow to make it big is Yaniv, and that's because Yaniv is a depraved sicko even by troon standards and a lot of the drama around him tied into the wider culture war and also led to media attention outside the normal lolcow-related channels like the Farms, ED, or the chans and law enforcement has gotten involved as well.

The only old-school lolcows I can think of who still have the potential to shock and amaze in the 2020's are Chris, Usagi Kou, and the furries.

Chris and Usagi Kou both had long periods of dormancy followed by an online resurgence after they went further off the deep end. Even then, Chris is only going because he's lost all touch with reality and now everyone's just waiting for Barb to die, since that will pretty much be the end of it. Usagi Kou still doesn't have a thread outside of the Proving Grounds/Prospering Grounds, so there isn't as much interest.

The furries are fascinating because they've been an internet laughing stock from the get-go and everyone looks down on them.

Even weebs are typically more well-liked or at least more tolerated than furries despite the big phenomenon of "weeb shaming" throughout the 2010's, and unlike furries, anime was actually semi-mainstream for a while in the early 2000's during the big anime boom, at least in the United States.

Meanwhile furries have never enjoyed any era of mainstream or even fandom acceptability, not even as a brief fad.

Part of why the furry fandom is a den of lolcows and still keeps going is because they have a very unique talent of seemingly hitting rock bottom...and then going even lower. The SJW culture war mentality of the 2010's has only intensified this.

But the furries also have the issue of being the most likely to hide in Discord and Telegram more than any other lolcow group.

TL;DR-There will always be lolcows. There have always been lolcows and they aren't going away any time soon.

This is simultaneously the largest part of what makes the furry cows interesting to me. They all surely have to have these extreme degrees of mental gymnastics to both be so deeply invested into their depravities, while still knowing they need to cover their tracks, and I find all the ways that can hatch out behaviorally to be fascinating as hell.

True, but the same event that made her a horrorcow and put her back in the spotlight will also be the thing that will most likely doom her in the long run.

She's becoming too much of a liability and I think she's going to get to a point where Marvel and DC stop returning her calls or giving her new gigs while the simps and paypigs will just find some other dyed-hair art thot punk to lust over.

Sex is all she's got left to get ahead and stay in the industries she's wormed her way into, and with her getting older and her looks getting worse along with the circumstances that led to Alec Holowa's suicide, it's going to reach a point where not even the most desperate of bearded eggs will simp for her.

So unless Zoe Quinn does something so horrific that it tops getting Alec killed, she's probably going to fade into obscurity in the coming years and stay there for good.

I'm not going to discount it as *possible* for her to top her crowning achievement, but it really seems unlikely at this point. I'd bet cash money she'll just fade out into obscurity over time more than have anything genuinely interesting happen to cause her exit. Most of the content to come out of GG doesn't seem to have had real staying power aside from one or two exceptionally notable examples.
