Lolcow in the making -

Growing up, did any of you know kids who in hindsight probably grew up to be lolcows? Whose peculiarities were already that apparent? When I was 8, I had a socially awkward classmate who insisted we never use the term "butterfinger" in front of him. So naturally we did just to see his reaction and he fell to the ground, screaming and convulsing. I always wondered exactly his mental disorder was, and why he reacted the way he did to that one innocuous word. More recently, my cousin and her husband have a 7 yr old autistic son. He avoids verbal communication with others and instead sequesters himself with toy trains (his one all encompassing obsession). I dislike his parents and do not allow them or him into my home (I buy and sell collectibles for a living, and don't want to risk him having a meltdown around my inventory). I wonder on occasion if he will grow up to be a lolcow, perhaps a creepy Chris Chan/Shaner hybrid, Any thoughts?

Yeah that's kind of typical for kids with severe autism, most of the severely autistic don't actually end up being lolcows just because of their autism though. If he doesn't even talk it's unlikely he'd be able to get the necessary Internet presence to become what we consider a lolcow. Usually it's the higher-functioning autists that become cows.

I'd have to disagree, the vast majority of lolcowish behavior is caused by the numerous quirks of autism. The only exceptions to this are lolcows like Lena Kochman who are just batshit insane and have some form of Schizophrenia.

Have a cousin who recently went full retard. I'm a big proponent of approaching autism without kids gloves, just treat them like normal folks . So she has a kid around 4 years old, and one of her armchair psychiatrist friends noticed he was a little shy, and went full blast on him having autism. Next thing you know he's getting his Fucking room padded, sent in to check if he can get autism meds, and one of those autism comfort dogs. Made me sick.

Being a lolcow is not a matter of what mental disorder someone have, it's about how they react to people. Case in point, if an autistic kid prefers keeping to himself playing with his toys instead of going full sperg every time someone speaks to him, he's not a lolcow. If someone who has no mental disorder like yelling at white males because PRIVILEGE, then you have a lolcow. Sure, having a mental problem helps in having weird behavior but it's not that determinant of being a lolcow.

Anyway, back to topic, I remember a classmate that had something, we never really knew what for sure, where he'd go ballistic out of the blue. We were in class, doing something, everyone in silence and he'd just start getting angry and pissed off at everything and visibly agitated, when someone would DARE ask him what was wrong he'd go on a tirade, sometimes throw or break stuff and finally shutting down in an instant. Supposedly he injured his head when he was a kid, no shit, and needed surgery but since then he had this "panic attacks". Since we were teens when we knew him, we never really cared and just thought he was crazy. I wonder what he's doing nowadays.

He's perfectly verbal, he just refrains from conversation out of disinterest.
