Lolcows That Are Also Alright People -

I was just curious about something, are there any cows that are actually decent people as well? I know that being a lolcow means that you respond poorly to critisism and that you have a number of eccentricities. But does that mean that you can't also be a pleasant person in spite of that?

The lolcows I know of all have rather odious demeanors that make you not like them. Chris is petulant, Pixy is crazy, Teej is a narcissist and so on. Aside from Joe Cracker maybe, I can't think of any lolcows that are that amiable.

I think that if one doesn't consistently act like a jerk, that may very well be an automatic disqualification from being a "lolcow" - I can't really think of that many people of interest who get along well with others.

Kengle comes to mind as an exception - I've never seen him get unreasonably mad at others (and I honestly have my doubts that he's really a "lolcow," although he is odd).

Jace Connors is the most obvious answer. A lot of the more unfortunate elements of his personality are really just the result of Gail's parenting/his naivete.

I'd also say that a lot of the Fanon Wiki people, or the Closing Logo Groups, generally don't have any odious aspects of their personality. As we can see from @mynameischrome, some can be pretty chill. They're just very very spergy.

Connor is another one. He can get whiny and very defensive, but overall he's just a spergy kid that overshares.

I can't ever picture mild mannered kengle being nasty or unpleasant.

Seconding Ullillilia (Ullillia? ulllililllilllilllia?), but even though he is the first person who comes to mind, he's not really a lolcow. He's certainly got the eccentric part down pat—he's super weird, and from what I've heard about his game it's confusing and difficult to understand—but he seems so placid, and he does try to get by like the rest of us. He even used his attention to detail to get a job cleaning buildings, and he's good at it too. The fact that he knows how odd he is and doesn't have an inflated ego like most lolcows keeps him from being more than a simple object of curiosity.

I metaphorically think of a lolcow as being a fire. Eccentricity is the fuel, but without funny reactions to attention from others it can't ignite, so there's no shitstorm.

I would argue that Uli isn't a lolcow at all. The last time I heard he was holding down a job, kept to himself, let his out-of-work sister bunk with him, and generally conducted himself pretty well.

Maybe SammyClassicSonicFan? He was just some kid who made a cringeworthy video, which unfortunately for him, exploded into popularity. He has since grown up and moved on from sperging and he actually seems like a pretty okay guy to hang out with

I'd say members of various fandoms. I've met plenty of Bronies/Whovians/Gemtlemen/what have you that are very nice and chill people.
Also, SJWs, I have some friends who are into that stuff and they're really cool.

Semi-agreed. I'm active in fandom myself (mostly Homestuck, but I dabble in Gravity Falls and Pokemon, and have been involved in some minor fandoms in the past), so I've seen my fair share of fandom horrors, but I've also met a bunch of really wonderful people through 'em.

I think with fandom it's often a vocal minority issue--the worst fans are gonna be the loudest and most obnoxious, and so the rest of the group is often judged by its worst members, even once less awful fans start speaking up. And unfortunately that can have some nasty effects on decent fans (minor example: the time someone at a concert asked what my hoodie was from and I said "Homestuck" and they looked disgusted and refused to talk to me for the rest of the evening).

SJWs...I have some friends who have SJW-ish leanings, but most full-fledged crazy SJWs can be really nasty people. Again, I have experience there. And one can be all for actual social justice while disliking SJW culture and extremism.

I half agree. He seems really nice and such, but I thought it was really shitty when he tried to convince some furry to dig up diapers out of the trash. I feel kinda bad for the guy, because he has cancer.

I was under the impression that MylarBalloonFan was a "face" lolcow, to borrow from wrasslin' parlance.

I feel this question comes to the heart of how I react to lolcows whose antics I follow. "Heel" lolcows, people who are just bad people regardless of eccentricities, (e.g. ADF, Vade, idislikecispeople, ForeverKailyn) I have no issue enjoy every bit of schadenfreude and revel in their failures. Then there are "face" lolcow, those that I follow and amuse me, but I am kind of rooting for. PixyTeri is a great example of this. She keeps the lulz coming by making the same mistakes, but I want her to keep a job, hoping that with every little way she can interact with reality, she can pursue her hobbies in a more healthy manner.

FWIW, I find OPL and Connor sort of tweeners. Chris has done some awful, awful, things. Yet, when he is enterprising and owning his infamy (e.g. drawing commissions, Sonichu medallions), it's a sign of life from someone who really has given up on the world. Connor has some very repugnant beliefs, but I think he lacks the self-awareness why people would find them repugnant.

I don't even believe that he honestly holds those believes. A lot of those are probably just his attempts to be edgy.
