Lolita Fashion - Frills, lace, and everything salty!

I have been chcecking out dome of the brands' websites and some videos. I think Lolita's are just adorable. The clothing looks like it would be lovely to handle and wear as the materials look so nice. Not for me, but I really really love aspects of this fashion and culture. It is so nice to see a big step back from following popular trends and overly sexualized clothing. Hats off to the young ladies, their effort and creativity.

Do people age out of Lolita?

In your opinion Aliexpress yay or :dislike: ?

I've had great success because I only buy from shops with reviews and items with positive reviews and photos. If you stick to that and pay close attention to the sizing you should be good.

These are two mori kei pieces I got off Uncle Ali as people lovingly refer to Aliexpress. Great quality fabric, well sewn, finished seams, fit as advertised.

I never had problems and i buy there frequently, greatest advice i'd give is ALWAYS exchange emails before buying, shops that don't reply you aren't trustworthy.

I think so. I was into Lolita from around 18s to mid twenties and unfortunately I'm now 30 and while I can't seem to bear to part with my dresses, I don't wear them at all. It's sad. I love Lolita lot but I can't justify wearing it at my age unless it's for a specific Lolita meet up. Most of my Lolita friends from that era also have given it up and moved to more adult street styles.

I don't get why these people need to make their lives revolve around the way they dress. Gods on Olympus, these bitches. You'd think someone would want to keep it a secret that they willfully got ripped-off over some hobby clothing that they can't even go near any food or grass while wearing. I never understood how anyone could see a blatantly reckless spender as a suitable mate to build a stable future with.

EDITED for rule 1 posterity.

Posting about my favorite recent release from indie brand Violet Fane from spain (?) who is known for their medical themes in their prints. I eagerly await mine so I can mourn the tax refund I spent on it

It comes in a skirt and jsk cut and I'm forever salty I didn't manage to snag the tights and matching flower crown
Violet Fane notes that this can be coorded more classically or gothic but I feel like black clashes with the tones, maybe a darker gray would be more appealing than shoehorning black

aww i like lolita fashion. One day i hope to be good enough at sewing to make my own dresses.

Start off small by learning how to sew accessories and slowly build your way up to that- there's also patterns you can snag up at your local Joann that you can use (although some of them border on ita).

Does anybody know where to get blouses in plus sizes? I've tried looking at different websites/lace market but none of them have anything.

Thanks for the recommendations. I tend to make or adapt my own clothes because I can't fit the girls into most itty Japanese sizes. The squish is real (go ahead TMI me, I don't care). But yeah, I'm curious about brands that cater for those who aren't Eugenia Cooney.

Try indie brands like gloomth and Violet Fane, they have a pretty decent amount of gorgeous dresses for girls that are bigger and smaller. I got this dress from violet fane and it's easily my favorite.

I had an ex that wore such dressed, still does for photos. Too bad she went from 100lbs to 180lbs in a decade.

I once had the displeasure of working with the lolita community in my state at a particularly mismanaged local anime con of which I was staff of. From all accounts they were extremely self-centred and kicked up the most fuss when their stage slot was delayed due to severe micromanagement from the part of the con president (causing a cascading effect where he gradually lost the faith of all his major sponsors, but that's a story for another post). As stage manager their antics were way out of line and out of spite I reduced their slot down to 10 minutes to accommodate for all the other bullshit that was happening on stage.

As for the fashion itself I have no quarrel with it, it's just a statement and fashion statements are made every day.

Man that sounds like a particular bad kind of hell since a lot of lolitas that I've seen when lurking on livejournal and other such places were cattier than a homosexual stereotype. There's something about the fashion that draws the most snobbish cunts to it- I was way too optimistic to think that they were too cowardly to do it face to face. Good job on putting them in their place.
