"What's a serger?" - Lori the Liar

In 2005, Lori’s history of cheating in cosplay competitions finally caught up with her. Her Naruto cosplay group was disqualified at Anime USA because Lori attempted to cheat by "sandbagging." Lori was also banned from several anime conventions and had previous awards revoked. [LINK]. In 2006, Lori threatened to sue the masquerade judge Jezeroth for “defamation.” [LINK] Here's more info and a previous KF post [LINK] for context.

According to ancient cosplay lore, Lori accidentally outed herself to a costume judge. Lori claimed that she made her costume and, when asked a specific question about the craftsmanship, she famously responded: "What's a serger?" A serger is a special sewing machine that Lori would have needed to make her costume. Here are some other terms to know:

- masquerade: A costume competition at an anime convention.

- sandbagging: According to the International Costuming Guild (ICG), "It's unsporting to enter a costume that has won a major award in a larger masquerade with relatively stiff competition in the same division at a smaller masquerade with less competition." Sandbagging is a cheating method similar to a high school student competing against kindergarteners.

WHAT HAPPENED

At this past Anime USA [November 18-20, 2005], Lori Cerda (Sailor Moon / Usagi Kou) showed up with a group of her friends and attempted to sign up for the Anime USA [AUSA] masquerade. At the time, I [Saeto] was a cosplay coordinator for the AUSA masquerade (the masquerade has since passed onto Sue Shambaugh from Katsucon) and Jezeroth was one of my cosplay judges and cosplay guests of honor.

When Lori filled out a form for the AUSA masquerade, her group put themselves down as Novices. This was against the rules, as Lori and her group have won so many awards that they are no longer eligible to enter the Novice skill division. By putting themselves down as Novices, Lori and her group were attempting to cheat.

The Anime USA masquerade rules clearly state that: If you have opted to compete in a higher skill division than one you were eligible for in the past, and won a major prize in that division, you are obligated to compete in that Division at Anime USA. Falsifying information on the registration form to be placed in an easier division is grounds for disqualification.

The consequences are even stated in nice bold print.

As I mulled over what to do about a group that was attempting to cheat, I was informed by Sue Shambaugh that Lori had cheated when Sue was masquerade director at Katsucon. Having previously talked with Jezeroth about the AXNY [Anime Expo New York] incident involving Lori, I decided that Sue’s experience with Lori, Jezeroth’s experience with Lori, and this current attempt to cheat constituted a chronic cheater, and that they would not be allowed to enter the AUSA masquerade for awards. I brought Sue over to tell Lori that she had been caught cheating at Katsucon and then told the group they were disqualified.

Because they were banned, the group was allowed to go onstage, but only as a non-competitive exhibition only entry.

Since then, Lori has been making posts about being banned and distorting the facts, saying that she was banned on unsubstantiated rumors and that Jezeroth and Sue got her banned. Such statements are false.

EVIDENCE

The decision to ban Lori was not made lightly. Contrary to what Lori says, I did not rely on rumors when I decided to ban her. I made sure that I had substantial proof from credible sources:

1) I have Jezeroth’s word in person that when Lori competed at Anime Expo NY 2002 that she submitted a costume purchased from Setsuna Kou’s costume shop for workmanship judging and that she did not know that the seams had been serged when questioned by the judges. I can obtain a signed statement from Jezeroth and from the AXNY other judges (Laura Finney and Darryl Hwang) that Lori cheated at AXNY 2002. I can also write to Setsuna Kou if I so please.

2) Lori’s group filled out a form at Anime USA where they tried to pass themselves off as Novices.

3) Lori has a profile listing how many awards she has won, so going into AUSA I knew that Lori was not a Novice. Sue has a printed out copy of Lori’s cosplay.com profile (in case Lori tries to edit it) where Lori mentions that she has won 5 awards, including prizes at Katsucon 2002 and Anime Boston 2003.

4) While reviewing old masquerade records, Sue discovered that Lori had cheated at Katsucon. Sue found that at Katsucon 8 [2002], Lori’s group won Best Presentation - Novice. This award bumped Lori up to Journeyman, a fact that Lori acknowledged, as she entered the Journeyman division in a subsequent year; then for some mind boggling reason, Sue’s records show that Lori decided to enter the Novice division in Katsucon 2005. While entering the Novice division at Katsucon 2005, she won a workmanship award, which makes the cheating even worse.

INACCURATE STATEMENTS

Because Lori has twisted what happened, I must correct some of the inaccurate statements she has made.

Inaccurate statement 1: Jezeroth and Sue targeted Lori and got her banned.
WRONG. Jezeroth informed me about the experience he had had with Lori and Sue informed me about Lori’s history of cheating at Katsucon. I decided that cheaters are not welcome in my masquerade and so I decided to ban her. I have repeatedly told Lori through email that I was the one who banned her, yet she keeps focusing on Sue and Jezeroth. I was the one who kicked you out of the competition, Lori, blame me.

Inaccurate statement 2: Sue acted unprofessionally!
No, she didn’t. I asked Sue to tell Lori that she had evidence showing that Lori had cheated at Katsucon. I knew that when I banned Lori, she was going to demand proof, and so I had a first hand source come over and break the news, and when she broke the news, Sue was very calm and restrained.

Sue’s husband, in fact, was the one who suggested that Lori’s group be allowed to go onstage as a non-competitive entry. If I had my way, I would have banned Lori’s group completely and not allowed them to go onstage. Sue and Tom at least allowed them to enter as an exhibition.

Lori’s accusations against Sue are amusing. I don’t get how Lori thinks that someone telling her news she does not want to hear is behaving unprofessionally and that Lori overlooks the 8+ years of experience Sue has had running masquerades and staffing at cons. If anything, Lori was the one who behaved unprofessionally, hysterically screeching at Sue, “Someone else signed up under my name at Katsucon.” Right, Lori. Someone would have the gall to pose as you in person.

Inaccurate statement 3: They banned my group for no reason without reviewing the evidence!
See all the EVIDENCE listed above.

OUTCOME

1. Depending on how generous Sue feels, Lori may or may not be allowed to compete at Anime USA again in future years. I cannot imagine that after being banned this year, Lori would want to compete in the Anime USA masquerade again, or that Sue, having seen Lori cheat several times now, is going to allow it.

Having had this experience at Anime USA, I recommend that Lori re-evaluate her behavior. If she continues to cheat, it will only negate her ability to participate in future contests in the future. At this point, she should consider herself banned from Anime USA’s costume contests and due to her antics at Katsucon banned from the hall contest at Katsucon.

2. I have encouraged Lori to have a constructive dialogue with myself, Sue and the other people she feels who have wronged her, but she has chosen not to contact the people and hide behind friends’ only posts on LiveJournal instead. I am still open to having a discussion with her, but given how Lori has handled the matter at this point, do not have high hopes for it.

3. Since she has demanded to speak to someone higher up, I have forwarded Karen's Lori’s emails (full of grammatical errors and profanities) to Vice Con Chair and he is currently dealing with the matter. If he wants to reprimand me for the way that I handled the matter, then I will issue her group a public apology, but until then I stand by my decision to ban Lori from competing at the con. I am sorry that in making this difficult decision I hurt her group’s feelings, but am not sorry for the course of action that I had to take. In the meantime, Lori can take some consolation in knowing that I do not foresee myself being masquerade director at any other con in the future, and that if I ever have to judge a masquerade that Lori is competing in, I will recuse myself when I get to her entry. Just as she cannot forget being banned by me, I cannot forget her attempt to cheat.

4. Sue is going to stay on as the 2006 AUSA masquerade director. No matter how many threats Lori makes and complaints Lori sends in, Sue is staying. I value the Anime USA masquerade like my first born and would not pass it on to someone who I do not have full confidence in.

5. Whether Lori likes it or not, word about what she did at Anime USA is going to get around. Sue is currently in the process of creating a database that records the names of the winners from various masquerades. This database will be on a password protected server and only masquerade coordinators will be able to access it. The purpose of the database will be so masquerade directors can keep track of who has won which awards (to determine factors such as skill level placement) and so they can identify potential cheaters. I have no doubt that due to the incident at Anime USA and incidents that Sue has had with Lori at Katsucon, an account of Lori’s history will be included in the database.

Hopefully this will be somewhat insightful since I am a fellow con rat myself, and used to be buyer of Setsuna Kou products.

As somebody who has met Jezeroth multiple times (and has messed up a masquerade performance many of times IN front of him and may have caused a minor problem or two but hey maybe he won't remember my ass whoop) I can CONFIDENTLY say this man is really nice and supportive of the cosplay community as a whole. Heck during rehearsals he would give tips to people practicing on how to fix their stance or dance moves depending what they were doing. He is very serious about the art of cosplay in general, and really wants everyone to have a good time and live their best lives. He does make it very clear (and at the rules for my con I go to) outside of drop falls, sandbagging is very discouraged and they are NOT going to tolerate that shit.

I have also purchased from Setsunakou.com a few times as well actually when I was rather young, however I have never ordered a costume from the website. Mainly being because a quick google research will result in people reviewing the costumes, which will have a WIDE ARAY of quality control issues ranging from "there was a stain, this smelled like cigarettes'" to "This was trash, it fell apart after I opened it, I wasted my money on this and I had to make it myself." Of course, these reviews were from the early 2000's (So, Lori's anime mess time period) and I have no idea what they are like now but she to this day IS still making costumes. However, she has been focusing on disney for the past few years since Frozen came out, but she still does the odd anime thing or two when it comes to plushies and OOAK (One of a Kind) dolls.
I have bought a few OOAK dolls which were about $150-$200 a piece, and I own a 2 ft plush of Seto Kaiba from her website. The dolls and Plushes do hold up, I can attest to that, however the paper dolls from her website are utter crap (think card stock with outfits printed on standard ink jet regular printer paper). She offers many other services such as translated English doujins, doll clothing, art, resin models, and figures, but I stopped buying from their website after middle school, but I might pay the site a visit to get a new Kaiba doll and a Mokuba.

If you are curious as to what types of costumes Lori may have purchased from back when, barely any of the Sailor Moon costume photos on the Setsunakou website have been touched. Which also means the prices MAY be outdated on a few costumes. Yes, this website REEKS of good ol 2000's internet. At one point, this place used to have music from various anime's playing before it just... stopped one day.

Hey, everyone.

I am a longtime lurker on Reddit but this is my first post because I'm completely at a loss and have no one else I can really ask for advice on this matter. I have no idea if this is the right sub or not so I'm trying here first and if it's wrong, please direct me where to go.

Also, it's long. TLDR at the bottom.

A few years ago I was with a group of friends at a very large comic book convention and one of these friends, 'Ken' [Kevin], had left his phone somewhere with another friend. I allowed Ken to use my phone to log into a messenger app so he could get in contact with the friend who had his phone. He got his phone back, we had a great rest of the convention, and that was it. Shortly after, I got a new phone, though I kept my old one in storage. This is relevant later!

Ken and I stayed in contact throughout the coming years and since we live in different parts of the country, seeing him at conventions is pretty much the only way we hang out. I looked forward to seeing him at events we were both at and otherwise just kept up with his life through Facebook and other social media.

About two years ago he got in contact with a model he had been a 'fan' of on social media and they started dating long distance. This was a woman 9 years older than him by the name of 'Lena' [Lori]. Lena apparently had a reputation in the community for being super crazy for decades but I'd never heard of her and I wanted Ken to be happy so I just watched from afar and stayed out of it. He moved upstate to be with Lena after a few months despite protests of us saying it was way too soon and all was quiet.

A year or so ago, Ken posted a cryptic message on Facebook saying he was in danger and he needed to get out. The post was flooded with comments from concerned friends (myself included) and we managed to get his parents to drive up to Lena's apartment to 'rescue' him. When he returned, he wouldn't talk about what happened, but said he really wanted to make it work with Lena despite everything because he loved her. And to the shock of everyone, decided to get back together with her and move her into his parents house.

A month or so after he'd moved Lena in, it had been radio silence besides a lot of happy selfies. A lot of people were suspicious because of what happened before but we didn't really know how to address the issue. None of us wanted him to be with Lena after the 'rescue' but he wouldn't talk about the actual circumstances of why he left so we stopped pushing him.

That's where the difficult part comes in. And why I'm here.

I had been cleaning my home and stumbled upon my old phone from years ago. I was gonna take it to recycle but first I decided to see if there were any photos I wanted to save from it. I turned it on and checked the apps and to my surprise... I was still logged into Ken's account. It had become the "main" account on the messenger app since I had upgraded my phone. I have no idea how this happened.

And I now had access to his entire archive of messages.

The abuse is...a lot worse than I think any of us could have imagined.

Lena restricts his contact with any / all females and some men and family as well if they say anything bad about her. She viciously stalks all of his social media accounts for posts that are years old and demands to know why he liked that post and then threatens violence if he doesn't unlike it. They accuse the other cheating on a daily basis and it's implied that Lena had cheated on him before [with Rikki] and that's why he left the first time. Physical threats and actual violence is rampant and they have hit / punched each other. They have destroyed one another's belongings. They have pets and the pets have been threatened with harm. She has threatened to tell everyone that he rapes her if he doesn't like her social media posts. And the list goes on. They just moved into an apartment together and the abuse has SKYROCKETED since now his parents aren't watching them anymore.

The issue here is that I am the only one who knows this. And the way I found out is a serious invasion of privacy. I have tried to hint at Ken that I know how bad the abuse is without outright telling him I've seen his messages but he either just tells me to stay out of it or that they're 'working on it' or to just simply fuck off. He has these moments of clarity where he will scream at Lena and tell her that she's made his life miserable and he wants to leave because he's tired of being controlled but in the end he just... doesn't. Lena reads all of his messages and has even said that if she sees me in person at a convention, she will tell Ken to choose me or her. All because I asked if he was doing okay and left a comment with a heart on his social media. She called this 'baiting.'





Telling Ken I have access to his messages and know everything will probably just make him pull away harder and become even more angry and distrustful. And I'm pretty sure there's some legal issues with that. But I don't know what else to do. I have hinted as hard as I can and told him if he needs help to get out I can get him out but he just gets mad at me and tells me I don't know what I'm talking about and that 'adults fight sometimes.'



But I do know. And I'm so lost. They just moved in together and now he's trapped even worse than he was before. So I don't know what to do or what I can even do. He is willing to defend her and be with her until it kills him pretty much. He is convinced she is 'the one' but yet he knows what she's doing is insane." - Anon

Lori is a leech. Over the years, she's drifted between various residences, grifted resources, and told sob stories to evade responsibility. As a real life anime princess, Lori feels entitled to spend all day playing dress-up and hoarding plastic weeb shit with her money. She's worked part-time jobs in sex toy shops and lower end retail when absolutely necessary, but wants a victim to ultimately pay her bills.

Lori claims to have major medical conditions that have rendered her "a cripple" and prevented her from traditional employment. These alleged issues are:
1) a broken spine / a spinal cord injury
2) chronic nausea

She is an unreliable narrator, though, with a long history of lying so these claims are suspicious and warrant sufficient side-eye. Lori has used a wide variety of excuses to continue freeloading off of her victims and, on one occasion, even suggested undiagnosed autism to justify her behavior.

When forever21 shit itself i stopped being scheduled because im the cripple so any extra income has come from patreon. Finding a retail / customer service job is hard when you cant lift more than 15 pounds. Those shoes she seems to love are ugly and they look kinda heavy. I doubt she has an injury since they don't recommend 10lb platform heels with rainbows for physical therapy. And they certainly don't recommend prancing around and kicking with them on, or doing weird back bending poses.

Is this one of the old bathroom pictures you remember from the Kewl Kou Klub "kou-pocalypse"? For Lori, the hair extensions revelation seemed to be a particularly damaging part of the Kou's exposé. Without the smokescreen of her skinwalking identities like Sailor Moon or Zero Two, Lori's true self is far less adept at manipulating people. She has a hostile, jealous, greedy, and bitter personality that's banal at best and malignant at worst. Here is an example of Lori bullying another Zero Two cosplayer:

In addition, Lori lacks a career, a high school diploma, personal accomplishments, professional accomplishments, community membership, long term goals, financial stability, hobbies outside of cosplay, etc. She doesn't contribute to society in any meaningful way and she's certainly not a great beauty, intellectual, philanthropist, or visionary who will leave a lasting legacy.

The only "special" things about Lori are her defective personality and her disturbing penchant for abusing others. The good news is that Lori's erratic behavior, psychological disorganization, and mediocrity make her a middle to lower functioning predator. IIRC Kevin has made her Zero Two horns since she threw a fit about the miccostumes ones that came with her original Zero Two suit. I don't believe Lori had the patience to cast and create this from scratch. I'm more inclined to believe that Kevin made the horns and she super glue'd it together. Upon further inspection it seems like she went from using the Miccostumes one with Kev's custom horns to a different headband that looks a little better. I still can't tell if its the same headband or not, knowing how lazy Lori is though she probably just sanded the frontal points on the headpiece and had Kevin do the rest.

The only reasons I think she's lying about making them from scratch and using those bands is because:

A.) Lori is a pack rat. She still wears her moon forehead gem from 2006, not a stretch to assume she still has her cheap headpieces from 3 years ago.
B.) Lori lies about making her props and costumes.
C.) Kevin has made all of her armor and cosplay stuff, barring the PU/Leather suits she buys from cosplay sites.
D.) They both can't keep their mouths shut about any projects, had they done this from scratch, the whole process would have been gushed about by Kevin and we would see BTS shots.
E.) They have yet to post any works with worbla, wood or plastic. Eva foam isn't what you would use for something like that (also doesn't look like EVA)
F.) The bands are likely from miccostumes because her printed zentai, white suit and red suit can all be bought on there. They're like the top selling cosplay sets. You can get a whole cosplay for under $100.

All that just kind of makes me believe she's using his shit, asking him to do the major parts, sanding an old trinket then posting "i made this im a crafter uwu" for cosplayer cred and to ~own~ the farms.

As @faggot fucker and others have said, I think Lori is struggling because she wants to directly respond to this thread to "defend" herself. She's hesitating, though, because a small part of her knows that she is responsible for hurting others. I am a longtime lurker on Reddit but this is my first post because I'm completely at a loss and have no one else I can really ask for advice on this matter. I have no idea if this is the right sub or not so I'm trying here first and if it's wrong, please direct me where to go.

Also, it's long. TLDR at the bottom.

A few years ago I was with a group of friends at a very large comic book convention and one of these friends, "Ken" [Kevin], had left his phone somewhere with another friend. I allowed Ken to use my phone to log into a messenger app so he could get in contact with the friend who had his phone. He got his phone back, we had a great rest of the convention, and that was it. Shortly after, I got a new phone, though I kept my old one in storage. This is relevant later!

Ken and I stayed in contact throughout the coming years and since we live in different parts of the country, seeing him at conventions is pretty much the only way we hang out. I looked forward to seeing him at events we were both at and otherwise just kept up with his life through Facebook and other social media.

About two years ago he got in contact with a model he had been a "fan" of on social media and they started dating long distance. This was a woman 9 years older than him by the name of "Lena" [Lori]. Lena apparently had a reputation in the community for being super crazy for decades but I'd never heard of her and I wanted Ken to be happy so I just watched from afar and stayed out of it. He moved upstate to be with Lena after a few months despite protests of us saying it was way too soon and all was quiet.

A year or so ago, Ken posted a cryptic message on Facebook saying he was in danger and he needed to get out. The post was flooded with comments from concerned friends (myself included) and we managed to get his parents to drive up to Lena's apartment to "rescue" him. When he returned, he wouldn't talk about what happened, but said he really wanted to make it work with Lena despite everything because he loved her. And to the shock of everyone, decided to get back together with her and move her into his parents house.

A month or so after he'd moved Lena in, it had been radio silence besides a lot of happy selfies. A lot of people were suspicious because of what happened before but we didn't really know how to address the issue. None of us wanted him to be with Lena after the "rescue" but he wouldn't talk about the actual circumstances of why he left so we stopped pushing him.

That's where the difficult part comes in. And why I'm here.

I had been cleaning my home and stumbled upon my old phone from years ago. I was gonna take it to recycle but first I decided to see if there were any photos I wanted to save from it. I turned it on and checked the apps and to my surprise... I was still logged into Ken's account. It had become the "main" account on the messenger app since I had upgraded my phone. I have no idea how this happened.

And I now had access to his entire archive of messages.

The abuse is...a lot worse than I think any of us could have imagined.

Lena restricts his contact with any / all females and some men and family as well if they say anything bad about her. She viciously stalks all of his social media accounts for posts that are years old and demands to know why he liked that post and then threatens violence if he doesn't unlike it. They accuse the other cheating on a daily basis and it's implied that Lena had cheated on him before and that's why he left the first time. Physical threats and actual violence is rampant and they have hit / punched each other. They have destroyed one another's belongings. They have pets and the pets have been threatened with harm. She has threatened to tell everyone that he rapes her if he doesn't like her social media posts. And the list goes on. They just moved into an apartment together and the abuse has SKYROCKETED since now his parents aren't watching them anymore.

The issue here is that I am the only one who knows this. And the way I found out is a serious invasion of privacy. I have tried to hint at Ken that I know how bad the abuse is without outright telling him I've seen his messages but he either just tells me to stay out of it or that they're "working on it" or to just simply fuck off. He has these moments of clarity where he will scream at Lena and tell her that she's made his life miserable and he wants to leave because he's tired of being controlled but in the end he just... doesn't. Lena reads all of his messages and has even said that if she sees me in person at a convention, she will tell Ken to choose me or her. All because I asked if he was doing okay and left a comment with a heart on his social media. She called this "baiting."

Telling Ken I have access to his messages and know everything will probably just make him pull away harder and become even more angry and distrustful. And I'm pretty sure there's some legal issues with that. But I don't know what else to do. I have hinted as hard as I can and told him if he needs help to get out I can get him out but he just gets mad at me and tells me I don't know what I'm talking about and that "adults fight sometimes."

As a child, Kevin loved skateboarding, anime, and cosplay. His pre-Lori friends remember him as a sweet albeit awkward guy who had a penchant for skinny ana-chans but had difficulty talking to girls and struggled with social anxiety. Like many religions, obedience and conformity are generally encouraged in the LDS community. Cosplay provided an escape from reality and allowed him to fully express himself. However, teasing from his peers and moral judgement from his community about his “abnormal" interests often left Kevin feeling alienated and misunderstood. What is a skateboard? Who am I?

There are lots of things that roll on four wheels and lots of different people, but nothing quite like a skateboard and nothing quite like me. Skateboards can be so complex, but so simple at the same time. People can ride a skateboard, but sometimes they don’t really have an understanding of it. People can know me, but don’t really get the whole picture. I love skateboarding and I can very much compare myself to one.

Life as a skateboard is much different than a normal one. You may not understand me at first glance or even like me at all, but if you can stick around for a while, what you thought was once a hindrance is now something you enjoy. Some believe skateboarding can cause too much damage to a property, and some think I am hurtful and uncaring because on the way I look or what type of things I like to do. It tends to be rather difficult to make myself and everyone around me happy. Skateboards get beat on, scarred constantly, maybe even broken at times, but by the time the sun sets, all that matters to a skateboard is the enjoyment that the skateboarder got out of it that day. I don’t care what happens to me as long as I can make people happy.

Learning to handle and like my personality can be frustrating, but anyone who skateboards knows that it takes an extreme amount of time to get even a little bit good at it. So if you think there might be something you don’t like about me, stick around, you might like what you once thought was hard to deal with. I’m very shy so people who get a first impression of me tend to think I’m depressed or there’s something wrong with me. If they would just wait to get to know me a bit better, then they would see that I become a completely different person around people that I’m comfortable with.

If you look at a skateboard, it looks pretty simple right? A board, four wheels and a pair of trucks and that’s all there is too it. Well that’s how people tend to see me. They only see what is on the surface rather than realizing that there is more to see. On skateboard, there aren’t too many complicated parts, but there are definitely some that go unnoticed, for example: the actual nuts and bolts that hold the whole thing together, the little plastic ring inside the bearings that hold the little metal spinning balls and the rubber cushions (bushings) on the trucks that make turning on a skateboard possible. Most people don’t realize just how many little things there are that make it work. I’m a pretty simple guy. When good things happen I’m happy. When bad things happen I get sad, but there are quite a few things making me tick inside that maybe only a few may know about. My subtle body language around women, my extremely negative and depressing humor, my experience, and the little things that make me smile. Others will see how I am on the outside and maybe misinterpret how I feel through the way I’m acting. I could be feeling and thinking something totally different but they’d never know.

Every skateboard is different. They come in all sizes and shapes and all have subtle secrets that you might not notice at first. I’d be my own different model with specific dimensions, but there would be some that are very similar. I would move differently and have different parts. All skaters have a different set of tricks and styles and what they want out of a skateboard, just like when you do different things with certain friends and seek advice from a specific person if you have a specific problem.

In conclusion, I am a very intensive skateboarder and have been working with skateboards for so long has made me realize that I see myself in my skateboard. Everything that I’m composed of can relate to my skateboard in some way and writing this paper has made me see this even more so than I did before. Skateboards continue to ride along forever as long as you push them and sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it’s easy, and like a skateboard, I will continue to ride forward to where ever I want to go."

Lori and Kevin started dating in November 2017. In January 2018, the first episode of “Darling in the Franxx” debuted and Lori started skinwalking as the main character Zero Two. In 2018, Kevin left college and moved to Seattle, Washington to live with Lori in her Rikki's apartment. Kevin got a minimum wage job to financially support his anime princess and smoked a lot of pot. Major drama erupted between the couple when Lori (inevitably) cheated on Kevin with her ex-boyfriend Rikki. Drama intensified due to issues with the apartment lease because Rikki, not Lori, was listed on the rental agreement. Kevin learned that Lori and Rikki were conspiring to kick him out of the apartment. Sadly, Kevin did not heed this giant red flag and continued dating her. One of Lori's favorite hobbies is coercing her partners into forced proposals and Kevin quickly fell into her trap during a honeymoon phase in the cycle of abuse. If you ever see a new ring on the fourth finger of Lori's left hand, you know some batshittery is afoot.

Later in 2018, their fights and Lori’s suicide threats escalated to a point that required the Seattle police, Kevin’s family, and Kevin's friends to intervene. They broke up and Kevin’s family took him back to his parents’ house in Utah.

A parasite needs a host so Lori lovebombed and manipulated Kevin into continuing their relationship. Unsurprisingly, Lori then moved from Seattle to Utah to live with Kevin with the help of a GoFundMe begging campaign. She abandoned her pet cat in Seattle because animals are just cosplay props to Lori, not living creatures. Then, Lori moved into the attic of his parents' house, started wearing her "engagement" ring again, and immediately began freeloading as a barely tolerated guest at the Hanft family home.

Despite all of the online raging at one another, instigating fights with other cosplayers, and accusations of abuse, Lori and Kevin want the public to know that they're just fine. In fact, Kevin has supposedly fallen ever further in love with Lori because she's so perfect and so special.
