Exactly. The problem many people have is that they do have solid, defined principles. They support the exact same ideas they always have, yet those ideas are no longer considered part of "their" political label anymore, and in some cases, are now considered to be opposing it.They think it's a few bad apples when really it's the entire system and people who support it.
Over time, I've come to realize that most political divisions aren't really based in hard ideology, they're just glorified social groups. And there's no shame in leaving a social group when they've decided that you and your values are expendable.
